oil pressure drop

I just bought this 93 4runner a couple of days ago. I was driving it home yesterday and while on the highway the oil pressure guage was fluctuating and running fairly low. It was hovering on the low side of the left line, and a couple times it dropped much lower.

I pulled into a gas station and checked the oil and it looked like it was good. I didn't want to add any oil to it.

Any ideas?

I'm brand new to 4runners so assume I know nothing about these vehicles.

thanks

It's normal. My 93 does the same thing. As I accelerate the pressure will come up. When at cruising speed it looks low. As long as the needle is moving it's all good.

I don't know the 3.0, but I'd hesitate to call that "normal".

The only way to be sure is to put an aftermarket oil pressure guage on it.

I've had mine for over six years, and the stock oil pressure guage has always done this. The only time it's different is when the oil is changed. Then it looks to be a little higher.

You could be right - it might be outside of normal.

Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, the amount of oil seemed fine when I checked it. So I'll just keep an eye on it.
