wow... thats funny, I dont even know whats in mine.

I have taken my 4runner to Go Toyota (formerly John Elway) since I got it in 2002...

anyone know what kinda oil they use there?? I just trust it since I worked for Lexus years and years ago. I assume they are using the same stuff Lexus did...

engine oil i run castrol, unless its an expensive race engine, then i usually run redline full synthetic. As far as my diffs, and transfer case, and manual trans, redline light weight shock proff. My auto trans on the truck has a mixture (i didn't do a flush) but i switched it to the redline high heat towing something or other.

I used to run Castrol 10w30 but last time when I changed the oil.. I switched it to Mobil 1 Full Synethic 5w30... I have over 203k miles on my 99 and she still runs strong. Stock motor, Stock tranny.

My parent's car uses Castrol Full Synethic and Mobil 1 Full Synethic. Both great oil.

How many miles do you have on yours?

I got 193K on it. I have been lookin at Mobil clean 7500 and Mobil clean high mileage. What do you think about thoes.

I don't really have the time and its against the rules at my condo to change oil. So I just take it to the dealer and they use Chevron Supreme 5W-30. This is a very good conventional oil if not the best. Chevron invented the process that hydrocracks conventional oil and removes all the bad stuff. Some oil companies use this same process and call it a synthetic. Spec wise its pretty close to true synthetic oil but technically its not a synthetic and Chevron chose not to advertise it or mark it up. About the only clue is the "ISO SYN" label on the bottle.

I prefer one of the big name brands, Valvoline, Mobile 1, Castrol.

I just go with whatever synthetic is on sale at advance or autozone. They currently offer 5qts FULL synthetic Valvoline with filter for 25. I normally get the filter for a 4.6L ford for either one of my dads junk fords, I only use toyota oil filters... I feel like they are so fresh when I feel the seal.

I also ONLY run 5w30, 266,000 NO oil leaks, a little seepage from the original valve cover gaskets. But I clean the engine often so its hard to tell. Of course rear main seal was replaced with clutch at 120k miles as preventative maintenance.

Regular oil has been tested to last until 10k miles before serious breakdown and build up of dirt occurs I've read. I like taking extra care of my engine and I know synthetic doesn't help that much but it makes me feel at ease extending my oil changing to 5k miles.

Alright thanks guys I apperitiate it. Should I stay with 5w-30 or use something thicker. I think im going to try that Mobil Clean 7500. Any u guys ever try royal pruple.
