A dirty injector is also a failing injector that a meter will never find.

I'd recommend a double dose of techtron in 1/2 tank and run it to the low light then fill up with 1 bottle and run to low light.

What is your fuel pressure? It be worth checking it when it's running poor during warmup.

Well currently have 20oz Royal Purple injection cleaner added on fill up like littleC recommended .
I'm 1/4 way through finding better acceleration smoother performance to the point were at stoplight I thought engine was off almost turned key to start lol

Experienced minor miss feel on morning start up 39deg air.
Late afternoon start up air temp 70deg no miss feel present.

Im going to install new o2 sensor's next weekend hopefully cold weather hangs around for test warm ups.
If that fails to fix I will have dealer check codes , pressure test get print outs etc.
From there I will get my hands dirty dirty if needed

Yeah FSM says 5w30 oil. It really wont hurt to use 10w40 just a little heavy for most areas.

Right on well Ive never used 10w40 & wont start now.
Today I hit Walmart purchased 20qt of Mobile 1 HM 10w30 & picked up a few filters at dealer.

Here's a thought: Do they use winter blend gas in VA Beach? If so, it's probably just the gas that's costing you 2mpg. Not uncommon at all to see MPG's drop by 1 or 2 in the winter time.

It wouldn't hurt putting 4oz of acetone in next tank along with the injector cleaner. It will absorb any moisture in your tank and help in cleaning.

If you have Chevron Gas available in your area it already has Techtron in it.

Neither should matter. I used to run 85 octane in my 4runners (and still do in the lexus), no ill effects whatsoever.

Just to put the oil thing in perspective, 5w30 is the recommended oil in the 1fz-fe land cruiser motor and knowledgeable, experienced land cruiser guys run everything from 5w30 synthetic to 20w50, diesel oil, snake oil (lol). As long as you put oil in it and change it regularly, you're not doing any permanent harm (the exception being running super heavy oil in a very cold climate, Virginia does not qualify )

Many thanks went to family but it would of been nice if direction was followed thoroughly no harm done though.
yeah I'm one of those land Cruiser guys that ran 20w50 in my 1st 78.
The extra weight quieted inline noise a tad , less oil burn & no more dropping pan emery cloth journal installing oversize bearing every other month.

Update.
20oz Royal Purple injection cleaner has did a lot of cleaning so it seems.
Use Half way through tank presented a light knock at idol resembling piston slap for a couple days.....A pretty scarey sound.
At 1/4 tank sound was no more throttle response best ever , gear shift smooth , gas millage improved & engine is oh so quiet.

I still have bug going on though.
During cold start 40deg & below light miss occurring with very rich gas fume.

Some miss details:
Start engine idols high sounds good then at 1 min idols down a tad miss feel occurs for 1-2 min then smooths out.

I'm thinking o2 & or TPS sensor.
Both have been ordered on the way will update after installed.

UPDATE:
Problem solved!
Replaced Upstream o2 sensor finding no more rich gas fum & cold start miss feel.
Ive also noticed idol stays sure no more minor fluctuations I'm sure gas millage will improve more.

TPS senor hasn't arrived yet think Im going to skip install.
Its Toy OEM only cost 38.00 will keep for future use if needed.

from what i understand the first number is for when you start up, and the second number is for when its running as far as the viscoscity, i just run 5w30, a guy i used to wheel with tried to switch me over to 10w30 but i dont really see the point, infact i think it will just put more strain on the engine from being thicker during the warm up, but who knows. the 710 cap says 5w30.

Run the 10w-30 and enjoy. I'd use injection cleaner about every 30,000 to 40,000 miles.

When I am in VA Beach I usually fill up at Pritchard's Sunoco on Indian River. My 4runner loves the Sunoco gas for some reason.

I went ahead added 2nd Royal purple dose for extra cleaning seeing Ive never used injector cleaner in 70.000 miles of ownership , I'm betting truck has never used such additive ever .
19 years old totaling 194.000 miles extra cleaning wont hurt


Today I replaced original PCV & grommet with OEM
Man the grom was a pain in the *** to get out all went well though.

Now time for some synthetic leather front seat covers & front bumper replacement.
It has a golf ball size dent that bugs me lol

Anyway got bored today so I installed TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor) & Man oh man what a great 35.00 spent.
Starting improved.
Cold Start Idols down faster.
Transmission shift - RPM adjustment = FAST & Smooth !

To those with high miles on the fence about replacing I recommend doing so.
