I do not have a LED button anywhere that i see. I have a red light bulb to the left of my steering wheel, however it is not a button. And the instructions say to start with that in the off position. Anyone... help?
Ok, after looking, where is this LED light button to work on the locking mechanism?

no not drunk... wish i was. i was asking this because in a previous topic i was told in order to get the runner to "chirp" when the key remote locks it, i had to find the LED button light and follow a set of procedures... im sure it was confusing without knowing that. Please forgive me. Basically i just want my car to chirp or honk when it locks from the keyless remote. now all it does is flash lights as it locks. I also cannot find the plug that others have mentioned that many unplug to get the chirp to go away. The diagram that is out there on the net is for a 99 i think.

In order to make your truck beep when locking an unlocking simply hold the lock button on the remote for like 5-10 seconds and it'll beep at you or something, then Viola! Repeat to turn them back off.

sorry, didnt realize that i couldnt ask questions without getting riticuled. i thought this would be something that someone on here would know how to fix easily. i didnt realize toyota would list how to change things that will alter your vehicle in the manual. I will look at it and see. If its in there, i apologize for asking a question.

They're just giving you a hard time. Don't worry about it. This forum is for asking questions, that's why this is such a popular site. There are a lot of helpful members on here. Don't let this discourage you. However, you can find a lot of info by using the search tool a reading a little.
This information is NOT in the manual anyways so disregard the last comment. It states to contact the dealer to change the volume. Someone here I'm sure knows how to do it without you having to pay the dealer to do this. Let me know if you find out, my wife's Camry beeps so loud compared to my T4R, it drives me nuts.
I would suggest going back to the original thread, instead of using this one, because someone there gave you these instructions. Ask that person, or just send them a PM.

brocksterdanza, a couple of things. First, the link you got in the other thread was to the third gen forum. I don't think the instructions apply to a 4th gen. I and some others have disabled the chirp by removing the piezo inside the drivers fender sheet metal. It can be accessed through a hole on that side if you open the hood. As far as I know, that is what it takes to end up with zero chirp. Do a 4th gen forum search for piezo.

Off the top of my head the only way you can really "Customize" the settings on the vehicle are through the factory scantool. Lets us adjust parameters like; passive mode, beep volume, lights on when door opens, ect.
