This is not the first time this has happened to me and I know it bugs most of the rest of us too. In Miller's NCAA bracket thread he and I were having a civil discussion about where a thread like that should be placed. Yes, he opened it in the wrong forum per current board rules, but it had been moved to off-topic and wasn't harming anything. There was no need to delete it.
This board is a community, and you moderators are supposed to be facilitating and fostering this community, not grinding it under your bootheels. I make a lot of contributions to this board, and a small part of that contribution was in that thread, and you've removed it. The more you do this, the more people are going to stop posting - I know admin doesn't give a flying **** so long as he gets a paycheck from the ads, but the rest of you are also part of this community and need to understand that a lot of the recent moderator actions are harming this community, not helping. I understand that you all are volunteers and I appreciate the time and effort you put in around here, but I wish it were better directed. I wish some of you understood that just like politicians, you are the servants of the members of this board, not the masters. I don't mean this to be a personal attack on anybody. Several of you are people I consider friends, and for all I know it was one of you that I consider a friend that deleted that thread. I'm just asking all of you, as a group, to PLEASE consider the impact of your actions, and if you can't let go of the powertrip, maybe consider that you're not cut out to be a mod?
Please stop deleting threads unless it's absolutely necessary (spam, illegal shit, that stuff). Move them, close them, warn or ban problematic posters, whatever. But every time you wish a thread into the cornfields, you've wasted the time of everybody who has posted to that thread. That time isn't yours to waste, you know?
