ok to switch synthetic brands?

there always seems to be a syn on sale, is it ok to switch depending on price or should you stick with the same brand?

Though it is probably okay to switch as long as the certification is still there, I just don't think that what little bit of money you might save is worth the uncertainty of it. Considering how few oil-changes you will perform over the life of your vehicle, and then the small savings, I just hang with Mobil 1 that I have been using since 1994.

ya, M1 is what i use too, i did notice M1 makes a extended life syn for 15k mi. Any one used this? I noticed last time I bought M1 that castrol was on sale for $21 per gallon

I try different brands and grades once in a while just to experiment.

I only buy close out synthetics or Bogo sale ones. I stockpile them in my basement and my average cost per quart is about $1.90. All of the manufacturers have sales & rebates...you just have to pay attention.

When Quaker State changed labels WalMart closed out the QHP for $9-11 for a 5 quart jug and they had a $10 rebate on their website at the same time.

Mobil1 did the same thing as did Castrol. Pennzoil Platinum has had several BoGo sales as well. Plus rebates.

Oil filters the same. Rock Auto has closeouts on Fram TG for $3 each and Amazon some times closes out PureOne filters for $4.

My synthetic oil changes cost $12-14
