I am tentatively in on this.

Those in the know-will a stock trail with upgraded tires be ok? I've got a buddy possibly coming up with his new Rubicon x making the trip too.

I don't see this being any harder than colorado trails, I think you'll be fine absolute worst case we do some "trail maintainace" and trim a few trees...

You should be GTG. There were a couple write-ups with people making it with stock rigs.....one in a 1st gen Toureg and one in a 4th gen 4runner. The only issue is there is LOTS of overgrowth. You're pretty much guaranteed to pick up some "Okie racing stripes"....unless you can find a way to prevent it. We might be able to trim the bigger stuff, but from what I here, it's super-dense in places.

Let's talk at this next event. I spent at least 2 weekends a month there during college riding 4Wheelers. Short story if you get stuck you'll have huge regrets for even going out there....you never been mad till you dig a truck out for two hours to only go 10' and do it again.

Been there on quads too just was wondering what a heavy vehicle like ours would do out there, you answered the question. Thanks. Dune riding is a good time.

Wouldn't be too bad on the Far East side, but the north or west would be killer. You'd really need to know that place like the back of your hand to not just have a trip of disasters. Airing down can help, unless you roll a bead then your screwed.

I used to run 4psi in my quad tires to put it in perspective. My 4x4 quad always got stuck going up the dunes.

If I'm able to go, that's where I'll be staying as well. Robber's Cave probably has better facilities, but its 40+ miles from the trail.
FYI, Spring turkey season runs 4/21-5/6 in SE OK so expect to hear gunfire.

Good tip on turkey season. A lot of the bad stories I've read seem to stem from conflict between off-roaders and hunting clubs that lease/ own land surrounding the trail. Hopefully everyone can play nice.

I have a DSLR, whether or not I'm good with it is another story...I'll also have 1 or 2 go pros. I'm off on Friday afternoons also, but I'll be coming from Tulsa. Keep me posted on your ETA and I'll try to get there about the same time.

I'm off Friday as well. Let me know if you want to meet-up here. I'd even be down to going a little earlier on Friday. Maybe do some fishing or check out other trails

I have shorts and a dry change of clothes.

Hopefully there aren't any big ones but they did just get 4" of rain...I didn't see any on your map. Do you have a gpx file or other GPS file of the route? I've got google earth pro and the full ArcMap suite here at work and will take a look.
