Old Grey Build Thread

You need to post a video of the results. Looks nice.

Honestly, I would love to, but the i-phone just doesn't do it justice. I tried taking a short clip and it sounds like garbage during playback. Trust me when I say that it is about as deep and throaty as you can make a V-6 sound.

So after a 700 mile round trip ride to the Florida Keys I have decided that the Flowmaster exhaust is simply too loud. My wife and I almost couldn't hold a conversation due to the constant drone at cruising speed 70 -75mph. I looked on Flowmasters website and put in the part number from the muffler, turns out the muffler shop installed a 40 series muffler (aggressive) instead of a 50 series (mild to moderate). I guess it's my fault because I asked for it to be loud, live and learn I suppose. Now I am back at the same muffler shop adding some resonators to help quiet it down. Hopefully the resonators will cancel out the 2000 rpm drone while keeping some of the aggressive attributes. I absolutely love the way that it idles and the sound when you stomp on it is amazing. Just need it quieter during acceleration and at cruising speeds on the highway.

Do you have the v6 or v8?

K+N Cold Air Intake

Installed a K+N CAI today. Surprised how little noise it produces after reading everyone's reviews. I only notice a change in engine tone in the upper RPM's at wide open throttle. The dyno chart that came with it says the mod is supposed to net 9hp and 9ft/lb of torque at the wheels... At least it cleans the engine bay up a tad.

Clazzios!!!

After waiting what seems like an eternity, my Clazzio customs seat covers have arrived! It took me about 4 hours to put them on. I am very impressed with the look, feel and finish. I went with black on black and light grey stitching. It makes such a huge difference from the tan cloth interior. Looks awesome paired with the black WeatherTechs!

Always wanted the black with white stitching Clazzios. It would look too nice inside my truck though, maybe some day...

Next up is an Icon Stage 2 suspension setup with 4" lift spindles in front and 3" Icon overland springs in the rear. Should be riding high real soon! Stay tuned...

Kayaks!

The suspension handles the weight of both kayaks, plus 2 days worth of camping gear with no problem.

On the way home from work today Old Grey crossed the 150,000 mile mark. Still running fine.

New Shoes

New 295/70/17 Nitto Trail Grapplers. Hopefully I will get 60k miles out of them like I did with my Terra Grapplers. Only time will tell. 159,600 miles on the clock as of now.

Old Grey makes it to Colorado!!!

Sad to say that I sold Old Grey last December. Today I received these pictures from the gentleman that bought it. I was so happy to hear that Old Grey made it all the way from Florida to Colorado and back. While I am very jealous that I never got to make this trip myself in the truck, it is heart warming to know that all of the work and upgrades got put to good use on some Colorado trails. I think it’s time to start building up my 5th gen. Maybe start a build thread...
