Old Grey Build Thread

and OTRATTW Switches

These also came yesterday!!! My next mod is going to be the CBI ditch brackets with dually d2 wide beams. I asked the Mrs. to buy them for me for my birthday in May. I figured since I was contacting OTRATTW for the windshield light switch, might as well order the light bar and reverse light switches too.

Head Lamps

In preparation for the Zombie Apocalypse, I thought everyone should have their own headlamp. They also have a practical application in case I ever have to change a flat or setup camp at night. Besides, I think they look cool in the truck. They are Defiant and extremely bright!

After much contemplation I think I finally know how I want to complete my suspension setup. I am thinking of going the Prerunner route with 4" Maxtrac lift spindles, Radflo coilovers, Radflo extended travel shocks in the rear with All Pro 3.5" lift springs. The coilovers should give me the ability to lift/lower the front end to be level with the rear. To add a little extra lift I am going to ditch the 33's and step up to some 35's. Will Probably go with Nitto Mud Grapplers because I am so happy with the way the Terra Grapplers perform, but I want a more aggressive look. I also like the Toyos.

Go with the Toyo MT or Nitto Trail Grappler. The Mud Grapplers don't last very long. My brother ran the Toyos on his F150 for roughly 80k miles

Agreed the Trail Grappler is one awesome looking tire. I am thinking about selling my slightly used Terra Grapplers with the stock rims and getting some Trail Grapplers mounted on a custom rim with a wider offset.

This weekend I hauled about 1,000 pounds of cement pavers and bagged sand in the back of the 4Runner. I can't believe how well the stock springs handled the additional weight. Pretty impressive. Here are some comparison pics for your viewing pleasure (I can only post one pic per reply, please see below).

Heavy Load

Loaded down with 1,000lbs on stock springs (with spacers). Pretty much leveled the truck.

Ocala National Forest

Spent the entire day wheeling with the Florida Family 4x4 club up in ONF. We had a great time and I was very pleased with how my 2wd performed. Even did a pretty steep hill climb! If you've got video Avwizz post it up!

Here is a picture of the ferry that took us across the St. John's River before. On the other side, nothing but pure 4Runner bliss.

I was wanting to go but already had pans for the weekend. Hopefully I can make it out to a meet/ride soon. Do you happen to know any details on that silver 4R?

That one is GregGimbert. It is a rooftop tent. If you are interested in coming out next time I think he is setting up another ride in a few weeks. There is a Facebook page that Greg started where most of the information is shared -Florida Family 4x4. Hope you can make it next time.

We will be back in two weeks, yes Mother's Day weekend. Saturday ride and swim in the spring day. What do you want to know about my t4r?

CBI front bumper hitch to accommodate the winch. Second battery to power the fridge. 3/2 cornfed spaced lift. Firestone Destination MT tires. Custom roof racks to facilitate quick movement of roof top tent between truck and expo trailer.

Update

Finally got the most beloved of 4Runner mods...the T4R.ORG decal. Also installed some WeatherTech floor mats. Over the weekend I ordered some Dually D2 driving beams and CBI ditch light brackets. Can't wait to get them wired up!
