I have two old rusty nasty ones
Whatever it is, if it helps beef up the LBJ, I'll buy it.
MStudt If you have list of potential buyers, can you put me on it?
Not sure why you would want to take on that liability. If your parts fail and someone dies, you're screwed even though you will probably have a "disclaimer".
I'll start a list on this thread for reference.
Those are the facts of life when you own a business. That's what insurance is for as well.
I'm leaning more towards making a solid replacement part, and selling them with a new control arm. It would be no different than a set of aftermarket UCA'S.
As long as these ball joints can make it over 100000 miles and cost cheaper than what we have now. For the cost of a new OEM and how easy the swap is I dont see this being a huge upgrade unless they can make it 200k miles.
I'm ultimately trying to come up with something to ditch our LBJ'S. I'm still in the planning stages right now for something better. When I get home I'll start playing around with different Toyota spindles, and different LBJ'S. In the end I might end up building new LCA'S, and new spindles to allow for uniballs or a different gen LBJ.
I'm going through a lot of information while we're waiting for it to stop snowing. Hoping I can make other Toyota model parts work.
Nice I actually like those ideas, a stronger better LBJ thats OEM would be great. I believe a lot of the issue with our ball joint is the way it points. Should point down and large bolt from the bottom, not top like ours. Be cool to get them flipped over somehow.
Sounds good. I'd love uniball, but its so expensive for UCA. I'm interested ! I'd also be interested in beefed up CV AXLES, and LCA.
