Old Man Emu springs and shocks.

Sorry for the delayed response - no not at all. I was able to get close to spec with OEM UCAs and once I upgraded to my current UCA setup, everything was inline. I've had the lift for over a year and it's settled about 3/4 of an inch but I'm still happy with +3.5 up front.

Thanks for the data. I also plan to install a bumper, was thinking about ARB, but now looking for one with tow receiver in the front. That way I can put the winch on the front or back

About to put an OME suspension on my '04 T4R SR5 V8 (no extra extra bumper weight). Went to the shop today and they highly recommended going 884 in the front and 895 in the rear. He said the only time he would put on the 885's in the front is if you were to get new UCA's.

I also asked about the diff. drop because I was curious if that was needed. He said it was pretty much a gimmick/could cause more harm than good, reason being that it essentially tilts the differential instead of dropping it straight down and causes the fluid to shift, lubricating the internals in a different area. It'd be worth looking into.

I have 885's with the top spacer and the diff drop and I still tore my boots... The part is inexpensive and super easy to install so I wouldn't skip this part. You're eventually going to want to put on aftermarket UCA's.

Is there a way to avoid torn boots? Less lift is safer, but I need to gain some height.

Thanks.

I put on some General Grabber AT2's in 265/70R17 with 1.25" wheel spacers. If you get something more aggressive like this, be prepared for some rub. You can move the liner a bit forward (this is what I did) and it will resolve the issue. Mud flaps still rub a bit, so I'm probably going to take them off.

Next week I'm planning on putting on the OME suspension. I'll post pics to help you determine what to go with on your lift/tire combo.

just because this thread popped up, anyone have experience with the 886 front coils? i got a v8, looking to do a bumper, winch, battery, possibly compressor down the road, is that enough weight or would i be fine with those items and the 885 coils?

thinking of a similar setup

I have an 06 v6 SR5. I went with 885's + the top spacer (from toytec) because I planned on (and still plan on) installing a DO front bumper.

I opted to go with toytec rear superflex coils.

Nitro shocks all around. It sits high - I believe my measurements are 4.5 inches of lift (from center of wheel). I cleared enough for 285 / 75 / 16 without having to do any trimming or body-mount chop.

I don't know if the DO bumper will change things, but it has been a rougher ride than I anticipated.

Note my order below:

Hi!

I've been doing hours and hours of researching and hunting for the perfect suspension setup (within cost constraints) and I believe I'll be going with what you have also!!!

Only difference is I'll be staying with my 255/75R17 tires until they wear out then upgrading to 255/80R17's and going with SPC UCA's instead of a uniball. Oh and I'll pass on the diff drop but upgrade to CVJ axles with the offroad boots when mine inevitably give out.

Having said that, there are a few differences. I currently ALREADY HAVE the demello 3 hoop front bumper that weighs about 120-130 lbs ish. I have the daystar lift and my measurements are currently 36" DF 36 1/8" PF , and 38" in the rear (same drivers side and passenger side). I'm curious as to what your measurements are from ground to fender on the 4 corners with that setup?

I'd also appreciate any pics you may have of your setup now that it's settled!

Thanks in advance!
If you're ever in my neck of the woods, first few rounds on me!

Will do - I'll take measurements and pictures and add them to my build thread. I'll tag you in the post so you can check them out. Have you done research about the SPC UCAs? I know they've improved their bushings but I read too many negative reviews to take a gamble. I've been very happy with the ICON UCAs. Also, the diff drop took a whopping 2 minutes to install ... and even with the diff, my CV boots still gave way. It might be something to look into.

You'll be happy with the lift!

Thanks for the reply buddy!! reply appreciate it. I have spoken to toytec and wheelers and they both acknowledged that the old SPC designs had lots of problems but both assured me they haven't heard anything negative in quite some time and apparently spc redesigned them or changed something. I have decided that I do want a balljoint and not a uniball as apparently they last longer and I don't do anything hardcore enough to warrant uniballs I don't think. I am definitely open to suggestions though if you have any arguments the other way. I just want the most adjust-ability and heard the spc ones allow more angle correction??

As far as the diff drop goes. It's definitely not the labour that is the reason I'm opting out of the diff drop, I just want as much clearance as possible and don't want to drop it an inch lower. I already have a torn boot and am aware I probably will tear my others after I raise this rig another 2" from where I'm at now (sitting 36" from ground to fender with true 32's, think I'll be going up to around 381/2" but curious to see where you're at as well). The CVJ axle boots look a lot better and the fins don't seem to contact nearly as much with their design. From what I've read the jury is out on whether the diff drop even helps very much. Most of what I've read says "mehhh it can't hurt, but probably won't help. I may consider it down the road at the same time as the CV replacements but not at this point.

By the way, I just got off the phone to Wheeler's Offroad again, spoke to a super helpful guy named steven. I asked whether I could use the 887 coils without a spacer to achieve the same sortof lift at the 885 with a spacer, and he assured me that would work. It's the same spring rate (590lb), and 400mm whereas the 885's are 395mm tall. So I believe that would be the same as a 5mm spacer and yeld about 3/8". Then I would just add the 1/4" drivers side to correct the lean. Do you have any comments on that at all? Can't find any 4th gens that use 887 coils using the search feature on this forum

Thanks for your help!!
Will
