Figured I make a thread to share my progress of my 88 4Runner, probably more pictures then anything. Been a Toyota fan since I could drive. Have an 2015 Trail 4Runner and been looking for an old one for a while and came across this one, an 1988 with 340,xxx miles V6 and love it!

The night I went pick it up(1.25.16)

Next morning.

First thing was cleaning it. Bring the shine back a little.

Then took the top off. Fell in love even more.

Just pictures:

Start painting underneath:

Very nice runner. We're in the market for our second one but never crap around when I have money.

Whatever you do, don't listen to everybody on this board and start modifying the holy crap out of it. Plenty of beat up one's you can buy and make hella nice rock crawlers out of. Nice 1st gens are getting rare to come by.

Looks great. I am in the northeast and I spray paint the frame and all components every fall before the salt hits the roads and it has held up well for years. It is a couple hours of prep and paint, makes the truck look great and increases its life. You see so much of the underneath of these things it can start to look like shit fast.
