OME 881/906 w. Bilstein 4600 final check before comitting.

So a big thanks to this forum so far for all the info on uprating the suspension of a 3rd Gen.

I am building an exoedition truck, nothing much different from stock, but suspension wise I am looking for a little bit of lift and strong, dependable springs and shocks. After much deliberation I am pretty much set on OME 881 on the front, OME 906 on the back, and Bilstein 4600s all round.

I realise that the Bilstein 5100s are adjustable, but I have no wish to go higher than about 2" of lift, and they seem only to be avialable in the USA (I am based in Europe), so even though they are not much more than the 4600s, add shipping and import duties and they are getting towards twice the price.

I also considered 99 talls on the front, but they are much more expensive than OMEs and I am driving a RHD truck which has better weight distribution than the LHDs, so I don't need the big difference in spring heights which the 99 talls will give me.

So, can anyon specifically not recommend this combination?

My setup was : OME 880s/4600s front and OME 906s/4600s rear.

Current setup: OME 880s/4600s front and OME 890s/4600s rear and i love it the 906s were a little too stiff for me bc i don't carry weight in the back all the time, i don't tow and i don't have a rear pumper nor do i have the intention of getting one right now so keep that in mind.

Thanks for this! Made me look at 880s and realise that they are better matched to the 906s on the back.

I don't really want a 3" lift as I think this is the point where the driveline geometry starts to suffer and needs a diff drop, panhard rod extension etc etc which I certainly don't want to do.

So, I guess it's 880s and 906s for me!

I am very curious as to how this turns out for you. Please let us know.

I have 4600s all around with 906s in the rear and 99 talls in the front. I sit 1/4 to 1/2 inch taller in the front when unloaded!

I blame this on the 3rz and 5spd being light weight. In a V6 auto the front seems to end up level or lower than the rear from my searching.... I wish I could lower the front 1 inch.

I love my OME 880/906 setup. I run Bilstein 5100's all around and the ride is very comfortable.

I too did not want a 3 inch lift like most. Mine is a daily driver and mild offroader. Couldn't be happier with this setup.

Kmurt, what is the distance hub center to flare on front and rear of your 4Runner now? Also, which slot did you put the front shocks on?
