OME 899? Anyone? Icon Heavy?

Is anyone running the OME 899 rear springs yet, 880lbs constant? I ran a search and nothing came up. Just wanted to get some opinions of how harsh the ride is.

I'm prepping for a rear bumper with a full swing out and spare. I've already got full armor everywhere so the truck as it is, weighs 6klbs loaded for a week of camping with the wife and pup. I'm currently running the standard Icon rear springs and I definitely need an upgrade. I see there are the "new" Icon 3" springs which seam better then what I have now but twice the price of the OME's.

I'd like to keep the ride as smooth as it is now but need a stiffer rear spring. I'm afraid the OME's might be to jarring.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Those are 4x the springrate of the stock springs you should look at the 897s instead,

I use the ones that are one notch down, 440lbs, and they are plenty stiff. I have tire carrier and fuel on back. The ones you mention would be super harsh and unless you haul bricks you would hate it.

Do you have full steel skids and a rack? Have you fully loaded your truck with your setup? Does it sag at all?

I'm torn between the medium and heavy.

Gonna look into the Metaltechs as well.

I think Mikey has a similar set up you're trying to go and I believe he's running All Pro 3.5" springs with good results.

No sag at all with full load. I put about 100lbs on roof, another 200 in back, tire gate, full size spare, 5gallons fuel, pull pal and trasharoo. Doesn't drop an inch. Also feels great going 40 down a dirt road and flexes great on dips. When empty, speed bumps are quite harsh. Had I gone with 888 lbs I would lose filings on speed bumps.

Howdy neighbor [MENTION=78318]RiDE[/MENTION] . I am running the OME 898's (440# constant). I ran them for a little over a year with no weight in the rear. They are a bit stiff unloaded, but I did not mind the ride. I just added the CBI rear bumper with swing out/hi lift/spare tire. The bumper is heavy, but with all the added weight, I only dropped about 1/2". I would be hesitant to run the 899's unless you will be running some serious cargo at all times in addition to your armor.

Hey Mark, I think you'll be fine with either the 896s or 898s. I have the 896s in right now, fully loaded with rack, rear bumper + 295 spare (my bumper might weight a lot less than a cbi though), BB steel gas tank skid, arb cargo drawers and a 50qt fridge. It sagged about a half an inch. I'm thinking about doing the 899s for the sake of long trips with my RTT and fully loaded rig. I don't think you'll like the ride of those heavy duties without a constant full load on them.

I'm doing the overlands too as soon as I get the funds together. Just did an icon front end and really like it. Scored a 584 (from a 491) on the RTI with just that change and it feels awesome on the road.
