OME & Alignment

Hi all,

I'm about to order the full OME lift kit for my 4Th Gen 4R. I read pretty much everything there is to read on this forum and I've come across a few threads mentioning front end alignment problems after a lift. The solution often mentioned are the TC or Camburg UCAs.

Question: Are there specific lifts that always have alignment issues? Will I have problems with the OMEs? If so, I'll just order the TC UCAs as well. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I have the OME setup.....my alignment shop did a good job with the alignment meaning it drives straight, even at highway speeds. But they did recommend aftermarket UCA's......he told me that I was just out of "good alignment spec's". I have the report but I don't really know how to read it.

I might get the UCA's or I will maybe try another alignment shop to see if they get me to "better alignment spec's".

Was anybody able to get "Perfect alignment specs" with the OME setup and stock UCA's?

Boy, did you guys ever take the words out of my mouth. I logged on to ask the same questions today.

Hopefully, someone chimes in, particularly on the alignment spec's with the OME lift.

By the way Ryan, love the look of your setup with the Nitto's.

Thanks for the compliment, ...as for the alignment specs, when they did mine they used the stock specs........which I would say work very good, not perfect but very good.

The guy who did my alignment said there was one (camber, caster, tow) ...something, one of those measurements he could not get perfect to the specs and aftermarket UCA's would clear it up.... b/c the stock ones don't have enough "adjustment". My alignment is acceptable, not bad enough to consider buying UCA's but I was curious to see if it's possible to get all measurements to "spec's" with stock UCA's.

Anybody is it possible?

Wow, I've been seriously thinking of getting the OME lift. I've pretty much read every lift thread on this forum.
This is the first I've heard of alignment issues with this lift, or any lift for that matter. Guess I missed the threads where this was discussed. But I always wondered why some members were replacing their UCAs too. Didn't realize that alignment was a big part of the reason.
Gonna be more $ than I originally thought.

So Wierd I actualy logged in today to ask the exact same question... Hmmm.

Anyways I installed the OME lift on my 4runner on Saturday with my father. When we did the alignment, we were able to get the Camber and Tow to perfect spec but we could only get the Caster "close" just outside the green and we had pushed the Caster Adjustment out as far as it will go on the Stock Lower Control Arm. Ended up being negative about 3 degrees on both sides.

So will an aftermarket UCA allow perfect alignment? Because I was thinking it would be as simple as just a replacement Caster Ball Joint in the LCA. I know they make something like that for most Japanese cars to solve alignment problems when they are lowered, but what are the solutions for the 4-Runner???

Any thoughts?

I installed a 3" sway-away lift with Camburg UCAs - took it to National Tire and Battery and they got it perfectly aligned, first try.

I ran into problems finding a place to do the alignment at all, but call around and you will find someone.
