OME BP-51 - 4Runner

My settings are-

Front and Rear- C-3/R-6 both sides

This is with heavy OME springs

Mule Expedition installed and set everything up. Been a couple weeks with few trips offroad and they feel great!

Also CBI front/rear bumpers/recovery gear/winch and a bunch of other weights

Thanks for the straight forward write up.. I have been a pretty big fan/user of OME springs and shocks for over 10 years. (Discovery and a FJ Cruiser). IMO very hard to beat for the money and customer support. With the imminent purchase of my 2018 or 19 TRD Off Road I think i would like to spend the extra for more advanced suspension......so reading this is awesome.

How much lift did you get with 10mm preload and t13 rear springs? I can't seem to find that in your original post. Was it at close to stock weight at that time?

I am getting close to pulling the trigger on this setup, but I don't want a 3" lift. I want to keep ~1.25" rake. Ideally the rear gets lifted 1-1.5" and the front adjusted to the 1.25" rake, which still means just under 3" front lift. I am afraid that the BP-51 will only work when having extra weight. Even the short OME 2895E spring apparently gives 2" rear lift. t13 seems like the only option. I'm hoping you have some feedback that can help guide me. Thanks!

I have the bp51s and backed off the preload to 10mm since I don't have any front accessories. This netted me 2.5 inches of lift on the front. I've only added sliders (~120 lbs central weight). My rear was way high with the medium duty springs that came with OME. The rear is also way high with the RCC 2.0 super flex coils. I'm going to swap in for some Dobinsons rear coils which are supposed to be 1-1.5" of lift. I'm hoping to level the truck and get the rear axle in a more neutral position.

I would caution folks without built up rigs getting BP51s. At slow speeds, the compression feels stiff. It gets nice at highway speeds. Though, even mobbing the desert (pretty sure I left the ground...) I don't think I used all of my rear travel with the compression set to 0.

The kit was designed around a built up truck with about +300lbs up front and +150 pounds in back. I like the adjustability, but I might need to get them revalved for my weights. Coming from the backpacking world, even when I'm car camping, I don't have much gear. PM me if you have questions. I don't post much.

Does anyone have a front set that isn’t installed? I’m having some issues and arb wants the serial number off then but I can for the life of me find it, I’m wondering if they are in the back of them. If someone has a set that’s not attached and could check before I have to remove them To get the number that would be awesome.

Ok finally had my shop install the bp51 and I have to say the ride is phenomenal
My tech wants me to drive it for a few days to let the suspension settle before we play with the rebound/compression setting
the only thing is the preload is set at 15mm with anticipation of my warn vr12 and victory aluminum blitz bumper but I like the stock rake so I might drop it down to 10mm
I gained about 2in. In the rear with the t13 spring and 2.5 in front
Install according to the tech was pretty straight forward about 4.5 hrs time wise
But damn the ride makes my truck feel like a Baja bandido runner:gun5:

Still loving mine after 28k, no issues. Need to mess with offroad settings a bit more, try out softer settings and see how that feels. I stiffened the rebound up a tick.5 on my last 600 mile freeway trip and it made a huge difference in handling.
