Figured that's what you meant. Would've been surprised to hear the opposite. BP-51s are on my to-do list. Thanks for the follow-up!Between the FJ and 4Runner. The difference between the stock TRD suspension and the BP-51s is night and day.
I have the BP51's installed on a 2015 TE with KDSS. Rides amazing. I chose not to install Icons for the leaking issues.
BP51's ride amazing and have a 3 year 40,000 mile warranty.
Build quality is amazing and I was able to install the reservoir bracket. The only issue that needed to be addressed was the drivers side mount. I reversed the bracket and it bolted up utilizing one of the bolts. Works great and no issues. I used heavy duty zip ties to ensure the bracket doesn't pivot due to only one bolt hole being used. It did the trick.
BP's ride amazing on the freeway, going over speed bumps, brake dive has been eliminated, and on dirt trails it is simply smooth! Feel free to ask me any questions or PM me if you wanna call me if it's easier.
Are you running the original UCA? Any leaning concerns with KDSS?
Stock upper control arms and no leaning to either side. I adjusted the coil top hat from 20mm of exposed threads to 12mm on both the drivers side and the passenger side. They come from the factory assembled for a Prado with a Diesel engine, bumper, and winch. That's at least 400 lbs of weight up front over the stock 4Runner.
did you do the KDSS recalibration?
I haven't had a need to do any recalibration. 4Runner is level side to side and front to back. 22 3/4" on each corner.
I believe that the re-calibration is unnecessary unless you bung up the install and allow something to happen to the KDSS pistons. If you follow the guide that some have posted here you should be good but still.. some get the KDSS lean even when doing things right so I'm a little baffled that you had zero issues with this.
Zero issues. Knock on wood. Been driving it every day for 2 months (2500 miles). I think it's because I didn't go too high. I believe the people who lift it over 2.5-2.75 inches is where KDSS gets wonky.
I've driven a 4Runner with Bilstein 5100's as well as a stock TRD Pro. The OME BP51's are a great performance upgrade over both that is well engineered and look amazing in the wheel wells of the 4Runner! I was hesitant to order but after I made the upgrade I have been so impressed!! 4Runner feels very solid now both on the highway and on the trails!!
One thing I failed to ask. What tires and load rating are you running? I am ok with a little stiffer but I don't want it to ride like a F-450 without a load in the back if that makes sense?
I'm trying to decide if I should go with KO2 (LR-E) or AT3 (LR-C). Can the ride be adjusted to compensate somewhat for higher load range tires?
I'm running stock size Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 265 / 70R / 17 but instead of P rated, I have LT. They ride great on the highway (75% of my driving)!
The compression on the shock system can be adjusted to compensate the higher load range!
