OME med or heavy duty?

quick question. (searched and could not find a clear answer)

08 v8 limited

I want to lift it and put a bumper on it. I can't afford both at the same time.

Should I get heavy duty springs (front and rear or just front and med rear)? How harsh will the ride be with out the bumper.

or should I get the med duty springs (front and rear)? and will those be enough for a bumper and winch later?

If you go medium now and then get a bumper you'll end up losing the lift in front. I had medium when I bought mine, added a SW bumper and winch and ended up at stock height after a while. I just replaced my OME with heavy front and medium rear and it rides nice.

I have exactly what CXS does and its works perfectly. I don't plan on getting a rear bumper ever so I have no need for Heavy duty in the rear. To be honest the medium is strong enough.

without the bumper yes. No question. My truck rides a bit more stiff with nothing in back but when I put at least 50lbs back there its noticeably different. I don't really care because I knew once I modded it the soft ride was out the window.

I do have a Thule t4 bike rack that is like 100+ pounds with out any bikes on it I have that on in the summer. Should I get the heavy duty rears for that?

My picture signature pic shows what it looks like when using mediums with the bumper/winch. It now sits 2" higher than that in the front and is level front to rear. I'll try to get a pic for you if it stops raining.

I'm guessing the bike rack is mounted on the rear bumper but really don't think it calls for heavy springs. With heavies and no load on the rear the ride tends to be pretty harsh.

Cool. That's what I was wondering. I was thinking that's really low and was hoping for more lift. Good to know that's with the mediums. I will go with heavy duty and deal with a stuff ride for a little bit.

for just a normal lift with stock or just over stock travel you dont need brake lines. Its once you get setups like mine you need them. however it never hurts to do them since they are relatively easy to do.

Yep, no modification needed to your brake lines with OME.

Guys are right. And for OME886 Its pretty ruff on potholes but Its not that bad with the weight of the V8 and it can be ride without sway bar and stay stiff on corners. But without the weight of skid plates and sliders I would try 885.
