Hello all-

Name's Andrew and I just picked up a white/brown '86 5spd on 33s. Even came with a vicious engine knock >.< I'll post some pictures after I get it back from the rebuilders. Looking forward to talking with all of you.

BTW - If anyone has any A/C related questions feel free to ask. I'm an experienced A/C & refrigeration tech. Also used to work for Toyota.

So many hours and even more dollars later here we are. Rebuilt 22R-E (did you guys know that milling the head way past the stop mark and using 2 head gaskets doesn't work?:wow, new clutch, new carpet, new dash, new stereo, muffler, catalytic converter and the correct distributor.

The sick thing is I thought about selling it when I ran across a 58 Chevy Stepside for sale.

Pic is from before I fixed the parking brake. That is the spare alternator filling in for a wheel chock.

Been thinking about stepping the tire size down a bit. Thoughts?

Looks good bro. 33s seem kinda big to me, I think 31s would look decent and maybe help with the mpg too.

we are all professionals on here, and any professional knows you can not use 2 head gaskets on an over shaved block........ you have to use 3.

Glad to see another one saved from the scrap pile due to neglect.

Good looking rig! Welcome to the forum. As for the tire size, I would recommend the 31's as max without regearing. Your mileage is being helped because the 33's are like having really tall gears--only problem is they hurt your acceleration and overall power. Love the "electronic wheel chock"--very resourceful! Have fun with your rebuilt rig--4Runners are great little trucks.:frog:

You got it--wheel rotation-to-driveshaft will work fine. After all, they're just extensions of the ring and pinion. You'd want about 4.88's for 33's, to keep the engine in it's normal operating range. Sorry--don't know anyone needing Yota rims right now.
