Oohhh, I want a NAV system that looks factory.

What say you? I would like to be able to use the factory aux input in the center console (which I found quite by mistake after the dealer told me there wasn't one), and I'd love to retain steering wheel controls. It would rule if it looked totally stock and it helped guide me when I was offroad.

I have a 2007 Sport with the V8 and 4x4. Looks like a stock factory stereo. Not a JBL setup. Anything else I need to know before anybody can recommend a terrific factory looking NAV setup for a good deal that takes advantage of factory functionality? I have installed probably 20-30 stereo systems over the years with never a mistake. I like to do it, and they tend to look good. I never messed with the stereo in my FJ because the stock FJammer with sub was a real nice stereo. I'd just like a nice Nav unit for offroad running/camping and some trips into bigger cities where I am unfamiliar.

I have an 04 T4R and installed the Eclipse AVN4430, the cost was about $650 in Denver. The ipod connection is simple with the added cord, the nav is a tom tom and is easily update on their website. The overall look is as good stock, I think it looks better than the stock radio, with a red/blue color the unit looks great.

I'm in the same boat. I have an 06 Sport w/o jbl and I purchased a Stock 4Runner Nav Unit off of this forum. I had to order upgrade harnesses and such from Canada, along with a JBL amp off carpart.com. I'll let you know once its installed.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. On the Tom Tom unit, did you need to get some plastic that goes around it or something to make it fit, or is it the exact same size as the factory stereo?

I put this great Kenwood system in my old Pathfinder a few years ago, but I couldn't sell the truck, because it didn't look factory. It had to sit out about 3/4" and everybody was turned off by it, no matter how great it looked or worked. I finally ripped it out and put the crap tape/cd factory thing in and the truck sold in one day. I don't know why a stereo that doesn't look totally stock seems to hurt the value, but I haven't messed around with stereos since then. I've gone totally stock, but would love a nav system that looked like it came from the factory and sat flush and smooth just like this factory radio does. I guess I must be a bit overly sensitive to such things!

He said he was out of them, but thanks for the tip. It doesn't look totally factory as it looks like there are some plasticy things on the side. Do all units look like that, or are there some out there that fit the opening exactly that aren't Toyota or Scion branded units?

I guess what I'm looking for really is just an answer to that question. What units fit in the slot perfectly so that there is no need for a Scosche kit or any of that junk. I want it to look like it was born there. Haha.

there isnt anything aftermarket that will fill the opening completely unfortunately youll have the trim peices on the side of the unit eclipse builds the oem units for toyota/lexus they would be closest to factory looking interface

Thanks wiretie. I appreciate the info, and that's exactly what I was looking for. Now determining if I can live with the kit system, or if I should just go with an external nav unit. Hmmmmmm..... decisions decisions.

There's a company called Rosen that makes Rosen Nav systems for toyota vehicles and apparently it looks completely stock. I concur with this statement bc I was just recently trying to decide on a nav system so the car audio guy showed me a Rosen (stock-look) and a Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT (aftermarket look) and the Rosen def looks like a stock nav. I, of course, chose the 110BT for the multitude of features and the "no-knobs-or-buttons" clean look.

That looks very nice. I bet the Urban Runner trim ring would fit on that particular model and make it look almost 100% stock. Maybe I'll go with that combo.
