OOHVA for Oregon Back-country Discovery Route Maps?

Has anyone successfully contacted someone who runs the OOHVA site or manages the sale of the OBDR maps? I was looking in to purchasing the maps to plan a run down one or two of the routes, but had a few red flags before I ordered. First thing I noticed was that the site doesn't look like it has been updated in the last few years, and the copy-write info on the bottom even says its only through 2/11/2016? When I emailed the "contact" link back in July asking about picking up in person because I am semi-local, I never ended up getting a reply. I have seen a few people around here mention that they received them with out much trouble, but the posts were all from a few years ago.

Are they still up and running? Has anyone ordered a set within the last 6-12 months? Did you get a digital file as well as the paper maps? How long did it take for you to hear back/receive the maps?

If I can pick it up and save a bit, it would be ideal to save a few $, but mostly I don't want to send off $150 to somewhere that isn't operating anymore.

I picked up the maps (Not all of them) last year sometime around May or June and had no problem. They come bound in landscape format, in color and are good for planning purposes but not so good for navigation purposes.

They will not send an electronic version, however, you will receive the GPX files if you ask for them. Upload them into GAIA and add alternates and you should be alright.

Unfortunately, due to the loss of a good friend over the 4th I ended up not going. Court, another member on here, did a major part of the logistical planning [MENTION=166847]K7CWJ[/MENTION] . He's great with the mapping aspect. Richard [MENTION=63700]Rcastle[/MENTION] and a friend did the route with MANY re-routes! Both would be incredible sources for you. Plus your'e local so we'll probably meet up around here.

Looks like I should just buy one of the routes we have been looking at and forego the local pickup. $19 for route 4, which was going to be our first quick trip anyway, is cheep enough to just order. The GPX files would be most of what we want, but the paper maps are still critical. Thanks for the link! I was watching some of your planning for a while, and that is what started me looking into the routes in the first place. I will comb through that again looking at K7CWJ and Rcastle's mapping/run while I wait for the maps to come in.

Sorry for your loss, loosing someone close is never easy. Especially when it is unexpected.

This is a bit of a new hobby that I am starting to really get into. Having a younger and older brother who have already caught the bug, and a wife that is mostly okay with it helps quite a bit. I am looking forward to meeting some new people and just getting out and seeing more of Oregon! Thanks for the help!

Sorry for the slow response to this. I would forego the paper map all together. I have them and they aren't very good the way they have them put together. I am happy to dig out my GPX files and send you the one you need. It may be a few days due to me being sick as a dog right now and the holidays.

I can tell you that Sisters to Seneca had very few if any reroutes and was an amazing day. So many cool views and fun roads, along with a pretty bad ass lookout tower.

Let me know if you want the updated GPX and I will send it to you. I can probably dig out the paper map as well if you want to borrow it, so you don't have to spend $20.

That would be amazing if you could send me the files! The GPX files were the main part of what I was looking for anyway. I am still have a bit of the old-school paper map reliance, but there are a few places I have found that can print custom maps with GPX overlays if I really felt the need to have something that detailed.

Glad to know that the Sisters to Seneca route was a good run. I figured it would be a good one to start with since one of the rigs lives in Bend, so it makes for an easy jump-off. Did you do the whole thing in one day?

I am not in a big rush at this point. We have plenty of time to plan before anything is clear out that way. And there is an entire season of snow to enjoy.
