At first I was thinking "What kind of idiot goes offroad through mud & water with their sunroof open?" Then I realized that the sunroof was probably the best possible escape route.

A friend of mine did pretty much the same exact thing with his S-10 Blazer. He tried goosin' it out but sucked water into his engine trying to make it through, nose dived into the pit pretty much. He took the spark plug out later that night and water shot out.

I think he changed the oil five or six times that week in a span of about 30 miles. He threw a rod a month later, engine was toast.

Hopefully that 4Runner didn't do the same thing.

Ouch! Even if the engine wasn't affected, it is going to take some scrubbing to clean out your interior.

I was going through the pictures on that guys website and it looked like bulldog-yota was at that offroading event. The dog in one of the pictures looked exactly like his. In addition, there was a truck like his there. Maybe he can give us the story behind those pictures if he was there.

That pic of the Blazer - the water doesn't look deep enough to get sucked into the engine. At least to me.
Unless, somehow it can enter through the tail pipe?

Yea, there's actually a picture before that I can't find of him diving in. His front end dove into the puddle and the headlights went under; thats where the water went in. He went a few more feet and then there he sat. The thing was stock with practically bald tires, no idea why he attepted it, but it was fun to watch.

Not nearly as bad of a situation as that t4r though.
