Many mid 90s hondas acuras at that time had such bad transmission slip problems at that time. It wasnt just the integras. The accords, legends, civics also shared similar problems. The hondas were just never as refined as a Toyota. The front bumper would pop out at the sides with age. Everyone and their mother had one.


I had some good memories with it and learned a great deal in my youth from the integra but never again.

I have a 98 ITR. You can still find my posts up on HT. It's aging and things are getting replaced here and there, but engine and transmission are still running strong.

Not really sure why you said that, this forum is as economically diverse as it gets. In my 30+ years of driving, in order, I have had 1 '83 subaru wagon (used), 1 '89 Toyota Hilux pickup (new), 1 '99 3rd Gen (used), 1 '13 5th gen (new) me affluent... nope... certainly thankful for what I've had/got.

Legit contributions and comic relief are always good and welcome. :)

Yeah...IMO Hondas of that generation were more fun to drive but not quite as reliable as Toyotas.
 
Like I said......I don't WANT the car to decide when I can escape. The fact some of us aren't freaked out about it seems to have some folks ''Butt-Hurt''......get over it or it will be a long bumpy ride here in the Internet World!:crybaby:

Meh....
On my first-gen dlx with manual door locks, if a door is locked, one could not just pull on door handle and open it - from inside or outside, whether key is in ignition or not, engine running or not, running forward, reverse, or parked. :)
 
Manual door locks! Love them. Because the new ones are electric and could fail (and DO!) that is why they must be overidden by the latch. You don't want to be sinking in the truck in a pond and can't open the door.:fish2:

Now that rationale makes sense.
On older cards, it's quite the opposite. Old user's manual said, to this effect: "In event of crash, door lock adds an extra layer of protection from door flying open.

Plus I have The Club in my truck that I can use to break glass :)
 
The function of auto-locking doors is a safety feature to assist in keeping the occupants inside the vehicle in case of an accident. There are many instances of unbelted people being ejected and killed in collisions and rollovers.
 
There are also a couple of threads in the archive about door lock actuator failures, places to get new ones and instructions on how to change them out - should it come to that! Welcome to this humble little group!
 
My 2001 jeep cherokee works this way, pull the inner handle on locked door and it opens. I guess it is a luxury car now.

Good thing too because the door jamb wires are so frayed that the electric lock unlock buttons are intermittent at best.
 
Heck my Alfa Romeo doesn't even have locks on the inside. Doors can only be locked from the outside with the key. The door lock key, mind you, not the ignition key. They have a handy feature though where they just unlock when you pull the handle.

with over 1/2 million 5 gen 4runners on the road, were bound to get a few here and there.
