Opinion on Falkens Rocky ATS

Lookin at the 265/70 17s at Discount.. Anyone here have any experience with them? Thnx in advance..:roll:

I don't have any experience with them but in case you don't get many responses I just wanted to say there are a couple of threads about these tires somewhere if you search.

I looked into them myself but read some bad reviews on discount tire's website and a few other forums so I went another way. IIRC there were only a couple of 4th gens with them and they seemed to like them fine.

I ran them in 285/75-16 and didn't like them. They are quiet and roll smooth down the road if you can get them balanced.. They also look great. But that's where the positives end. They pick up rocks really bad, then destroy your rocker panels when you hit the highway. They have no traction in wet offroad conditions AT ALL. The rubber compound literally smells like cow manure. The tread is squirmy and the vehicle would track all over the road when they were new (this has since been corrected in the ATSII and Wildpeak AT2 versions). They are also extremely heavy tires because of the thick sidewalls and they will kill your MPGs. I had balancing issues with mine too. They are made by Sumitomo and are basically the replacement for their own AT tire, which was discontinued because of poor sales. Guess they figured they'd try again under a new brand name.

Get the wildpeaks , very nice tire. I wish I had more of a mud tire but they work quite well off road and perfect on road . Look great too.

I have these tires and I love them. I don't have in that size, I have em' in 275/65/18 and haven't ever had any issues with them. They're tough tires and they've always performed really well for me in on-and-off-road conditions. I would definitely recommend them, however I will agree that their wet performance isn't so good. And in my experience, the rubber compound doesn't smell that different from any other tire I've had...

I've been running the Rocky MTNS for two years in the 265/75/16 and haven't has a SINGLE issue with them. Great traction all around, and perform flawlessly off road.

Ask the guys I went to Uhwarrie with a couple weeks ago. They are almost bald and I still kept up. When I finally got into 4WD..... Damn t-case...
