opinions on this 4runner for sale

Its a 2002 4runner thats on sale in autotrader. It looks real clean orginally they were asking for 14k, and according to the ad he has an offer of 16k. Do you really think someone will pay that much for the 4runner? Or is someone trolling him making offers they wont commit to. By the way his asking 16,990 now.

I've been looking for a clean 4 runner for a long time now. So many sellers that are not reasonable on their price and not wanting to admit their 4runner is not in an excellent condition and more like fair. Most sellers never take a look underneath the car and look at you if your crazy when you mention rust.

Anyway just wanted to see if anyone had any input on the car for sale on autotrader.

That is way too high. You'd be better off buying a plane ticket to North Carolina, buying one there, and driving it back. That would be 6-8k cheaper for the same truck...

17K is more than double what I'd pay. That is crazy low mileage for an '02, but to me that's not necessarily a great thing- means it's been parked and/or driven only on really short trips.

Ever heard of kbb.com? My standard approach is to pay somewhere between trade and private party value (depending on condition). In this case private value is $10K and trade is $8800. I didn't look up dealer retail but I'm sure it's not $17K.

I would have to agree. He should have listed his 4runner in ebay....


You should see his youtube videos....exterior is not even perfect for the asking amount.

I guess he has an offer of 16k.... I wonder if one can disconnect the odometer on these. I know a neighbor who would always disconnect his odometer for long drives.

The ad is stating that it sold. Knowing this area where the truck is being sold, I wouldn't doubt that the mileage could be true. I have a few friends that live in this neck of the woods. His neighbors have multiple cars with just the owner and there wife's as occupants living there. Any car/truck in this area where it's being sold will most likely be in pretty good condition(you would need to see it in person). This is more like a upper class area where most of the cars are garaged. I think $16k is too high. $14k like you mentioned might have been a good starting number to work down from. I sometimes look for garage sales in this area due to the furniture or items being sold are nearly brand new or in excellent condition. Good luck finding your 4r.

I already made a deal on Tacoma 03 4x4 double cab(not trd). Very clean no rust and gray interior that is almost new from what I can tell, for a 127k mile tacoma.

I only made the comment about the mileage, because of my experience on looking at quite of bit low mileage Tacomas and 4runnerers. There is another tacoma pre-runner 2004 claims to have 40k odd miles, but when I get there(let me add I googled his 2.2 million dollar home yes I zillowed it I had to when a private security askes for ID before entering I wanted to see what was up). He has a tow package he did pull a pop camper and transmission jerked, but his reasoning was 'its a truck' and he had no transmission cooler. So I can only suspect the transmission was on the way out and the interior was like for vehicle for 200k miles. scratches all over the center console and steearing wheel..

There is was another 27k mile tacoma 4cyl double cab, that will wouldn't even start and had an interior that looked like rats lived in it. When I asked the owner this has 27k miles, well look at the odometer.

Anyway, I won't be joining the 4runner community, but see you on the trails for sure........
