Optimal time to sell (in terms of mileage)?

How do you all decide when to trade/sell your current vehicle. Is there a mileage figure where value starts to tank?

Here is my dilemma. I have 2003 V6 Limited 4x4 with 220,000 miles. I want to upgrade to either a late model V8 4th gen or a pre-2007 Land Cruiser. I'm just wondering if the miles on my rig are already too high for it to have much value. Should I just keep running it towards 300k and take the risk of something expensive breaking? Or unload it now while it still may have some residual value (and is in near perfect mechanical condition)?

Thoughts in general on how to decide when to sell/trade vs. run it til it dies?

If its paid for, run it till it dies! Then resurrect it as a trail rig! Upgrade anyways. Thats what Im looking to do now. I have a 89 4runner and its getting ready to be a dedicated trail rig once I find myself a really nice 3rd gen.

I work and help run a used car dealership. I would think your best bet is going to be selling it now, or soon. As soon as mileage creeps near 250k and up I think it will be much harder to sell. 4Runner's have a great reputation, and at 220k I think you can still get a buyer to bite. Plus gas is cheap right now, and people are buying SUV's and trucks like hotcakes. Get it fully detailed, take tons of pictures, and sling it.
