Options for carrying load

I have a GOBI rack and I am interested in what others are using to carry loads. I have a Yakima Carbonite 21 for my minivan but I am looking for a solution for smaller day trips with the large family. Things like life vests, food, fishing rods, sleeping bags, and tents. Any suggestions? I have seen various solutions but wanted to make the best decision for my needs. Thanks.

what's wrong with using the yakima carbonite 21, you just want something smaller?
