not that it matters, but i used my noco smart charger to restore my old red top 34/78(us made 5/08) that had quit holding a charge, and would drop down to 11 volts or less overnight. the charger has the battery in a condition to retain a charge of 12.5 v while resting, and brings it up to about 13.8 v after charging for a few days.
i replaced the red top with a red top group 25, which has been working fine for the last three years. i'll find out whether it lasts as long as the us-made one.
i'm also attempting to repair another red top 34/78 (mexico 5/13) that drops to 5.5 v when sitting for only a few days. the charger has slowly brought it up to 10.6 v over the past five days. it isn't hot, just warm, so seems like the charger is doing its thing. previously using old style charger, could only bring this battery to about 11.5-11.7 v max, and it would rapidly drop back to 5.5 v in a day or two when removed from the charger.
the noco charger also restored charge holding ability to two old lead acid batteries that had likely sulfated. those have been resting off the charger for weeks, yet still sit at 12.5-12.7 v.
edit: i've given up on the other red top (mexico), the charger cannot get it above 12.2v, and it drops down to 9.5v pretty quickly after removing it from the noco.
