Orange Boxx PSD/Molle Panel Write Up/Review

On Point

New member
I’m back again, with another write up/review! This time, it’s on the Orange Boxx Fabrication PSD/Molle panel. I’ve followed their Facebook/Instagram for awhile, and love all of the customized stuff they do. I found a video online of how to install this, but it was cluttered and hard to follow, so I decided to do my own write up.

First thoughts upon opening – the powdercoating was flawless and the custom TRAIL logo popped! (must say, it’s nice to see my brainchild on various products)

The 3 indicated places are where the panel mounts. The coat hanger is a 10MM bolt, the two bottom locations are Philips head screws. You will re-use the 10MM bolt at the top.

I suggest mounting all brackets to the panel prior to affixing to vehicle.

The parts package will have 5 allen bolts, 2 small and 3 larger. The 2 small allen bolts are for the top bracket. The 3 larger allen bolts are for the left side lower bracket.

Tighten everything down and admire your new panel. Then you can start loading it up!

Looks awesome! I like the Rago design better as it doesn’t have an extra attachment piece at the bottom left attachment point. I also like their bottle opener accessory as well. What’s the price for this? In addition, I’m surprised one of the two companies doesn’t hold a patent on this panel design yet? Someone at R&D definitely dropped the ball on that one.

I have the "TRD" lettering on mine, but it's the same product. I initially liked the Rago better as well because it sat closer to the window, but after getting the orange box I realized I could fit items on both sides of the panel because of the extra space. I use the "glass side" for items I dont use as much but still want available. Sturdy and easy install. They look great and fantastic customer service. Paid about $250 for both on black friday

I'm fairly confident that Orange Boxx was the first to release this product for the 5th gen 4Runner.

Just installed my driver's side panel today... did the upper bracket place a slight crease in your headliner as well?

Anand I installed my Panel about 2-weeks ago and there was a slight crease but nothing too obvious.

Have the same ones....I used a nylon spacer and had them redo the ceiling brackets so I didn't create my headliner

Awesome...why no patent?

The reason we did not patent the product was . Anyone with a plasma cut table is able to copy the product make their own and run it in the woods. Who would know about it. But when other companies want to copy a product they do it in the slickest ways. 5% change of design. (put a bend in it) you have a new product. There goes my 11,000.00 bucks for wasting the time and effort in patent on a product. Plus China and western countries do not follow US patents.
