Orange (Inferno) Paint and Red Stitching?

I joined this forum to learn about 4runners and join a community of people that want to help each other. Is it common to get ridiculed on this forum when trying to gain a better understanding about these vehicles?

Most of us are friends here and we joke and poke fun a lot. We forget that a new guy might not understand that yet. You also have to remember that almost every single topic that can be discussed about a 4Runner has already been discussed.... many many times. Every now and then a new question pops up but not often. Look around and enjoy.

Please let us know what dealer told you that a super charger is available so we all know to either go in there and embarrass the living sh*t out of the dumb ass salespeople in front of other potential buyers or never to go to that dealership because they're lying sacks of sh*t.

Well this got a little out of hand, which tends to happen here with questions like this.
I have a caveat to add to my first post that might help you out: the inferno paint really does look red sometimes, so it will match. Sometimes it looks very orange. The red stitching on the inside is really so minimal that you won't even notice it unless you're looking for it. What bothered me were the aluminum roof rails and chrome rear badge; they looked out of place with the overall design so I fixed that.
Bottom line is pick white or inferno based on which one YOU like more, you'll be happy with either one if you forget about the stitching. Or convince yourself that orange and red are complimentary. Like others here have said, I wouldn't trust this guy if he's telling you it will have a dealer installed S/C. He's either clueless or trying to take advantage of you. Give me a few minutes and I'll post pictures for you so we can lay this to rest.

As of today I have only worked with Elizabeth City, NC. I was waiting for the S/C quote yesterday. They hadn't called me back yet, so I called again today to see if they had my quote for me... guess what? They don't have it yet.

The service department told me the S/C would add about 60 HP and I pushed pretty hard about how it would effect my overall gas mileage. Please don't answer this with the 40,000 opinions unless you want to simply discuss amongst yourselves. I feel I understand pretty well about the MPG. He said I would probably loose about 5 MPG and I think he was just trying to keep me from being that guy that gunned it all the time and the got pissed because the MPG he told me was wrong. I knew he was just trying to help get me an answer, but I posted this to let you guys know it was more of a conversation than just a "yes," or "no."

In his defense I originally ask for some sort of "turbo." And he suggested the S/C.

FACT: you will not lose any MPG with a supercharger in a 5th Gen.... because they dont exist

sounds like you got a real piece of work salesman that told you you could get a supercharger, and is now trying to talk you out of it because you're showing some interest. I had to go to 3 dealerships just to buy a trail, and I found a lot of these jabronis were happy to tell me whatever I wanted to hear, with no intention of actually completing the sale. I'm not sure why. I drove 2 hours to order my trail though, and went with the first salesman that wasn't talking out his ass.

The best part of searching this forum that I've found is that the vast majority of the threads that you search through are peppered with "do a search", followed by some BS and a ton of emoticons. Look for the 300+ page thread, grab a beverage and prepare to wade.

It's a tough crowd, but damn knowledgable, and the fact that these are a 5th generation means that there's plenty of gold in the other subforums too.

I'd tell that salesman to take a hike. Or better yet, have him promise you a TRD pro with a S/C, KDSS, moonroof, and then give me his number, and I'll order one too just for fun.

Hmm... I think I disagree with this assessment. As a fellow Tampa/St.Pete smart ass myself, I started out my life in Pensacola... then Gulf Shores, AL... eventually winding up in St. Pete in '97. That being said... I commute to Tampa every day. (So it get both sides of the bay... which is a good thing)

I think it may have to do less with the "breeding" and more with "breathing"... breathing in the gulf air, the lifestyle and slowing growing a parrot head.

So is it breeding... I dunno... but something attracted and kept me here!

I have been exploring the option of getting a T4R Trail and then adding the lift and tires, but there seems so much risk to that. Seems like a lot of people here (Eastern North Carolina - Maybe I should talk to Grave Digger)don't know what they're doing. And I own one business and run another as my real job. So time to figure it out myself is challenging. And 3 kids and a wife... I literally went through like 150 pages of the 5th gen lift pictures and just loved it. But I also saw people had a lot of problems. I had a F250 with 38 Mickey T's with an 8" lift and I loved it, but knew when the time came for me to buy new that I would get a better lift kit. After reading up on here I just see the wheel rub, the millions of options and I'm a bit chicken to blow the money on it not knowing exactly how it's going to turn out.

The TRD Pro just seems to be a good start right out of the gate. I just wanted MORE POWER. Uhhhhhhhh. I've driven the '15 Cherokee Tralhawk the '15 Ford Explorer sport (365 HP) and I've finally narrowed it down to the T4R. I was almost certain when I thought I could get the HP up to 330 that I would be done with this epic search... And the stitching thing. Sorry, but I'm picky. I've worked hard for that money.
