yea i got to the bottom of that steve has a special 5 valve version made which is different from the 3 valve off the shelf variety we can order.

elaborate on the 883's isn't that an ome number?

i like stiff, stiffer than factory for sure, i have driven trucks my whole life and think my suvs should be more utility than sport and ride like it! ooh oh oh (tim the toolman speak)
 
Yeah, 883's are made for 4th gens and 05+ Taco's I believe, but should still fit 3rd gens. Call up trdparts4u. Jacque should be able to answer that question.

Yeah. I bought a set of LC springs from a wrecking yard. I had hell getting them in. Only after we were done did we see the OME 851 tag. Ended up with about 6" lift in the rear. If I had seen it, I'd have never bought them. Gives me hellacious rake in the rear. :)

Pair up some Tundra 5100's with Tundra 4wd/trd springs?? If they're that similar to tacoma 5100's then no.. Haven't seen anyone throw that out there just yet. But if it has been i'm terribly sorry..

881/906 will give more lift in the front than in the back. I think 906 coils would be good for someone getting '99 springs in the front. They added about 2-2.25" of lift in the back. My front flare is 38" from the ground and the rears are at 36.8". This is with top plate spacers installed in the front though.

re-read again the 5100's for taco or tundra's suck on our runners....

and from asking around steve is the man and pretty much has this stuff down for our 4runners.

I recently saw this comment over on yotatech from Steve at SS regarding a for sale add for some bilstein 5100s: "these shocks only work with stock Tacoma springs on a Tacoma. On a 4Runner they are like a rubber band, the valving is way off." That is exactly how the front of my 4runner behaves--rubber band."

Sometimes what you read is actually true. The shocks are made specifically for my company by Bilstein. This was a very expensive endeavor, but one I felt was the only way to build the best suspension for the vehicle.

The off the shelf Tacoma 5100 series shocks are an absolute and complete disaster on a 3rd gen 4Runner. They are valved entirely wrong for the vehicle. In addition to the shocks we also had several custom poly pieces made to perfectly mount the coils to the shocks.

Also we are a ToyTec dealer as well. I can sell you the entire line of products they offer as well.

Hope to see you out in Pritchett Canyon with your rig.

Ah... Could only glimpse over the thread since someone actually failed to link to a specific comment correctly. I hate browsing at work but sadly enough thats about the only time I can lol.
 
no worries man, i agree that's an attractive way of lifting the yota for a good price but unfortunately you run the risk of having it behave like a "rubber band"

x2 expect to get up to 4" lift in the back depends on the age of LC coils

even with tundra coils in the front, the rake is still high. that's why SS has the 7.2 kit. but in my case, i added all steel plate rear bumper, and a full size tool box later on. that's a lot of weight in the back.
