Ordering a 2007 4Runner?

I am in the process of getting price quote from several dealerships in the area and I was told today from one of the dealerships that they contacted corporate and found out that the GY-side curtain air bags are no longer available for the 2007 4Runner along with the NJ-Power Outlet.

Anyone else hear of this?

I was also told to expect a wait of 4-6months! Geeesh, at that rate I mind as well wait for the 2008! :(

Anyone else with information on those options being available and or the typical wait time?

Thanks!

I ORDER MY 07 SPORT IN NOV 15 AND GOT IT FEB 14. I LIVE IN SAN DIEGO. HERE IS WHAT I GOT, WHITE V8 SPORT, SIDE AIRBAGS, JBL SOUND, 2WD, SUNROOF. I DO HAVE A POWER OUTLET IN THE BACK BUT NOT SURE IF IT IS THE SAME ONE YOU R TALKING ABOUT.

Yeah I think they come standard with the power outlet in the back. the one I'm talking about is in the center console.

I've only heard from one dealership that said that the side air bags are not being offered. I'm not sure if that means that they are incorporating them as standard equipment or what. Of course I assumed the dealer didn't know what they were talking about until he told me he contacted corporate when he didn't see what I wanted on my list of options.

12V power in the back is standard. I believe the one you're referencing as an option is the 110V outlet in the console. Correct?

well, I've been dealing with one dealership and they have quoted me 33,500 for the following:

8686 Sport 4x4 V8
sunroof
Homelink
auto dimming mirror
115volt power
10spkr JBL
air bags
rear spoiler
window tint
side signal mirrors

It's actually 1% over invoice according to the dealership and to Edmunds/KBB/NADA. I think it's a hell of a deal. So all I have to do is find out from this dealership if the Airbag and Power Outlet "no longer available for order" is true. The told me to expect delivery around July. Eeek! Oh well!

Later I'll be ordering the Jaos Center Protector R and the Challenger Lights Dual Beam along with Weather Tech's Extreme floor mats. :D

Can't wait! :D

I am talking with 3 dealers about my purchase. This is what I want. 07 Sport V6 with nav, side curtain, moonroof and a couple things like floor mats, exaust upgrade( if anyone has any opinion on the exaust upgrade let me know). Carsdirect is the best price so far...in the range of $32,500.

..........so far noone has mentioned that side curtain air bags is an issue though I am early in the process.

you might bring that up just to ease both of our minds! :p

Carsdirect is $32.5 for

07 V6 4WD Sport
Side Curtain Air bags
Navigation system
front skid plate
moonroof
cargo net
weather mats
upgraded exhaust

$32,900 through Cars Direct for me. We'll see if a dealer will match that though. I think Cars Direct just does invoice and then the dealer gets to tag on whatever, unless you have experience with Car Direct?

No I don't have experience with carsdirect. I assume that is the price + tax and fees but that should be it...that is the way they advertise....will compare and contrast....

I purchased a 2007 4Runner SR5 V6 4x4 (Model 8664), Nautical Blue Metallic about a week and half ago.

I live in Southern California and it is extremely difficult to find a V6 4x4 with Side Curtain Air-bags (Code: GY) and 3rd row seat (Code: TH). I checked with more than 20 dealers and no one offered to get the vehicle for me. Only if I was willing to wait 6-8 weeks, with a deposit and even than there were no gurantees. It's all about Toyota's so-called "Regional ALLOCATIONS"!!

So I started calling up dealers in Las Vegas, NV and Scottsdale, Phoenix, AZ. They all had this configuration however the color was difficult to find.

Finally luckily there was only ONE vehicle located in Northern CA, Monterey Bay area from where I eventually purchased it and had it trucked on a flat-bed to my home. No one had said that GY code is not available, only that it is difficult to find that option PLUS the 3rd ROW seat.

I checked out Cars Direct. They even contact a couple dealers. I heard back from them already. One dealership said that only applies to vehicles they can find in an area and doesn't not apply to one they would have to order. The other dealership was pretty much the same way. Cars Direct is not much help unless your willing to settle for less or more and NOT the exact options you want. Secondly the GY-airbags AGAIN pose a huge issue of even locating one. So I am back to square one. I guess I'll have to give in and order from one dealership. It was a pretty good price quote but certainly not as good as the number I saw on Cars Direct.com.

Oh well.

Follow up on Cars Direct

I had a detailed talk with the rep with cars direct. He is in Santa Monica.(nice) Anyway he said Toyota allocates certain types of vehicles. the build platform in NO. CA is Sport 4WD with side air bags, upgraded stereo and tow hitch and carpets. That said he repeated what was said about the allocations and the availability. The nav system is harder still to find. There are several like these at Lithia Toyota in Redding CA at this time....good luck.

I found another dealer that was going to do $299 over invoice. So that gives me 2 dealerships to choose from. However these two dealerships are 2.5 hrs away from me. What I'll do is take this information to the local dealership and tell them I want to buy from them but they'll have to beat the deal! :p If they don't go for it then I'm headed out of town. All they can say is no. I guess we'll see tomorrow. Wish me luck.

It all boils down to the regional distributor. The regional distributor orders certain option combinations for each vehicle model and trim that it believes will sell (most popular), and labels them as packages. If the dealer is willing to put an order through to the factory, there's no reason why you can't get exactly what you want provided the prequisites have been met--as long as the brochure list that a certain option is available for the given trim and any other required option(s) is/are ordered as well, i.e. RSES must be ordered with the moonroof.

I had mine ordered. The order was put in mid-November 2005. In mid to late December 2005, I got confirmation from the dealer that Toyota accepted the changes for their allocation. The truck was shipped (arriving to port) in early February 2006 and I took delivery mid February. It might take a few weeks more since you're on the other side of the nation.

Thanks for that information....so would you go with a dealer to get exactly what you want or carsdirect? your opinion?

Cars Direct seems more of a situation of "taking what they have". They will not order from what I heard. I did contact one of the cars direct dealers and she said that the numbers aren't dead on. I think Cars Direct misleads people on a price that will never be offered. I would contact a Cars Direct and let that participating dealer contact you back and go from there. I would also contact many other dealers. What you should do is take my information and tell the dealers you found a dealer that is willing to sell $299 over invoice. From my extensive research I can tell you pretty close what each package costs them too.
