Ordering my OME 3" Lift Tomorrow!

Hey all,

I know it's been a while since I've been on here but I finally saved up enough money to put a lift on my Runner. I decided to skip the spacers and go straight to the OME 3" Suspension Lift. Here is the setup I'm planning on running.

- OME 885 Front Coils (Medium Weight)
- OME 895E Rear Coils (Designed for some additional rear weight)
- OME 60004 Rear Sport Shocks
- OME 90000 Nitrocharger Front Shocks
- Toytec 1/4" Top Plate Spacers
- OME Trim Packer

For anyone running this lift any input will be greatly appreciated. I currently have a brush guard up front and tend to pack some weight in the back for when I go wheeling. That's why i went with the medium duty coils verses the light duty ones.

I love my OME lift. You might need swaybar relocates as well. There relatively cheap. I believe Toytec sells them.

Looks like you're running the OME heavy's based on your build. How's the ride? Just wanted to be sure that I was ordering the right stuff

What things do to typically pack into your rig when wheeling? The medium rear ones might be too rough of a ride on the road, as many others have figured out.

The OME runs on the stiffer side even if you are running the recommended added weight. I have a CBI bumper, 285 Spare, Hi Lift, and A Jerry can and its still on the stiff side. BUT I would rather have stiff and level than saggy.

I recommend exceeding the added weight suggestion by 50 pounds or so. I currently have no weight on my front and its rated at 220 additional. At the moment my front suspension doesn't even work. If i go over a speed bump at 5 MPH I catch air. Not even kidding....

The mediums should be ok for your application. It will be on the stiff side. The softs would have handled it fine i think. I personally prefer a slight Rake in the rear anyways.

Id get the regular 895 rear springs not the 895e's as I believe the 895e's are a half inch shorter.

I run the 896's and the ride is fine. But I typically have the truck packed with fishing gear.

Thanks ARK, this is exactly the thing I needed to hear. I was originally set on the Superflex rear coils but a buddy of mine steered me away from them. From the sound of it the OME Mediums sound super stiff. He is running OME Heavy's in the rear with no added weight, if everything you all say is true his truck must ride like S&%t!

I only have ome on the front, so can't comment on the rear. I have read in a lot of different threads that the ome rears are too rough, that thread is only one of many. Here's some numbers to consider. Ome 895s are 45% stiffer than stock. Toytec superflex coils are 10% stiffer than stock. You can obviously see there's a huge difference there. Not many use them, but all pro offers a spring 15% stiffer than stock if you feel the superflex coils aren't quite enough.

Ride is very subjective, so take each opinion, including mine, with a grain of salt. The 885s are too stiff for my taste. 884s are the same coil rate, just shorter to provide less lift. I will be swapping my omes for something else before long, just to harsh over bumps.

I don't want a stiff ride! Haha, my XREAS have spoiled me vs. the XTerra I previously had. Sounds like the lights are the way to go. I plan on buying a Demello 3 hoop front winch bumper but that's still a year or two away so I figure I'll just change out the coils then when I do.

Don't know exact mileage, but my omes have approx 25K miles on them. Bought the coilsused from a v6 owner who wasn't happy with the ride. I'd say mine are broken in as well. To me, it feels like they won't let the shocks do their job. The handling is great, just the ride over bumps is too rough for me.

I'll also mention that it really didn't bother me as much when I had P rated tires. With the new tires in a D load range, it seems to have a bigger impact. It also doesn't help that I've got suspension ADD and am always looking to change things up.

I keep trying to decide what to do for rear springs. I have a set of FJ springs but I will be putting my 260lb dirt bike on a bike rack at least once if not twice a week all spring, summer and fall. I also tow a trailer a least 30 times a year with a decent tounge weight. I thought about doing air bags but I kept hearing that failures occur due to wear against the springs. I happen to live in the salt sand belt which is also why I hesitate with the air bags.

I was thinking of going for OME 896 but wonder if the FJ springs would do the job and just put the 5100 and call it a day.

For your load it sounds like you would be better off with the 896's
