Ordering suspension

I have my 1999 T4R for a week as of today. When I bought it I noticed the suspension squeaked a little but I didn't realize the shocks were on their way out. I took it off roading today at hidden falls for the first time in that vehicle and expedited the shock-ruining process and I was bouncing around like frogger out there. Those shocks are so blown that I was hitting my bump stops all day and then I was bouncing from side to side going up trails (which was actually quite dangerous now that I look back at it lol). I am ordering the OME set up with the soft shocks, 881 front and 890 rears. I have seen that many people still use same brake lines and I don't think it's high enough to worry about a diff drop. Thanks for the info I have gathered and I just thought I would update the forum on my plans!

Hidden falls is a cool place. Where are you located? I'm in kerrville.

881/890 is the route i have been thinking of, but paired with bilstein 5100s. Post pics when you get the lift on.
 
I am in north Austin. I am in some groups that go out every weekend (I don't.. It's way too expensive to spend $100 a month on that) but they're all great guys and gals. I did some 2-4s today without much issue. My tires were holding me back (33" cooper discover APTs) and my suspension was too. I just wanted to get out there and see what it could do. Did better than my 2011 xterra did on duratracs. (Although I miss duratracs)
 
Cool. You will like that setup. I have that in mine. But with 5100s. Definitely post pics when you get it installed!

I am going to do 881/890 on my 02 and I was planning on doing 5100s. I am unsure as to what part # 5100s I should get. Do you know what make/model that your 5100's were originally for? And are they a direct fit (top and bottom of strut) for the 881s in the front? I am currently running stock 02 shock absorbers and 99 tall springs and the ride is very jarring even when driving on a gravel road. My hope is to achieve little to no lift, improve ride quality, and a slight negative rake would be nice.

I just ordered all of mine on wheelersoffroad.com I chose the 5100s for 96-02 4runner. Front and back. Theybare a direct bolt on. Mine are set on the second perch which gave a little under 3 inches in the front and I got about 3 in the back after everything settled. Probably a better ride on the lowest perch. And you would achieve your rake also. Look into getting the smallest top plate spacer for the front driver side also. Or you will have a lean in the front. I think they sell 1/4" poly ones on there for like 7 bucks. Wheelers has real good prices for piecing your lift together. And shipping is cheap and fast. But if you are wanting little to no lift, there are cheaper routes. But if you are set on 5100s I don't have anything bad to say about them. But this setup with give you about 2" of lift in the front and 3 in the back. I got 3.5 in the back and 3 in the front before it settled. My suspension was shot also!

Are you familiar with cheaper options for shock absorbers? I am set on the 881/890 coil setup from research that I have done over the past week. I want a shock absorbers that will help improve ride quality over the stock 02 ome ones. I live on mt. lemmon and some of the roads are gravel that I frequent and with my current setup it is very harsh. At medium speed driving down the roads is controlled chaos almost similar to a hydroplane effect.
 
So if you go with the OME 881/890 and bistein 5100 can I run the coil spacers in the front that I already have on my stock suspension? im just wondering because i like when it squats
 
Drivers side spacer

did you notice the lean just in the drivers side front just from you sitting in the car? I would prefer it to sit level when unloaded and when there are 2 people in the car rather then just cater it to when I am driving alone.

I have only purchased the 5100s myself. Maybe someone else can chime in with their experience of other shocks with ome Springs. But if you don't need the longer travel then any other ones I think would be good. Or the 4600 series Bilstein.

No I have the lean without anyone in the car. Probably looks way worse when I am in there. But every rig is different. From what I've heard. Also make sure you put the "A" spring on the drivers side and "B" on the passenger in the rear. Longer on the left rear. For the gas tank.
 
So if go with the 881/890 w/ 5100s on the lowest setting will I need to do a diff drop or brake line extension?
