Montero and 4Runner, no similarities. But what can you expect from the majority of women unless they actually cared about cars. Sadly, the 4Runner's cousin, the GX looks like the Montero in the back. Can't believe of all things Toyota chose that fugly look off the Montero for the GX.

Yeah i get the same feeling whenever i tell people "i would only buy a honda or toyota" and i notice they drive a chevy, ford, or some other brand.
I used to be a Mazda guy until their trucks became Ford Rangers. I previously owned an Isuzu PU before they became s-10s but i don't really have much good to say about Isuzu either (as such, i couldn't make myself consider a Honda Passport either)

The Honda Pilots are ALL honda. Same V6 as in the Accord and Odyssey. Don't you think they would have kept making the passport if they thought izuzu was doing a good job?

Their sales on the passport would trump their opinion on isuzu's work. Vehicle models are discontinued on sales, safety, or both, so if it was selling well it would still be out there. To answer your question plainly, no. However I did research it a little more and you're right, all honda. I hope to see a new generation soon though; I think the current exterior is too boring.

The 99 and younger Passports, and Rodeos, have the same exact engine as the Trooper.
The Pilot has the same engine as the Odyssey.. But not sure if it's the same engine as the V6 Accord though..
The new Pilot has to grow on me... In my opinion, the new Pilot, is a mixture of a Nissan Pathfinder (on the rear) and a Nissan Xtrail (on the front, google Xtrail since it isnt a vehicle sold in USA but in other countries)

Yeah that '09 will have to grow on me too. The last time I saw that picture I thought it was still a prototype. I thought the previous gen was too boring and I think this current one looks like over compensation! Looks like the Runners just lost even more competition. . . which isn't necessarily a good thing

If by Montero we are referring to the rebadged Pajero, then it is a vehicle that is brilliant in its own right. A very credible rally history, and much closer to the LandCruiser in price and marketing in other markets, just a little more affordable. In the US it obviously never took off, but when I look at it it doesnt seem as special as the Euro versions, kind of cheapish in its plastics. I doubt that there are any changes under the skin though in the other markets the dominant engine is a 3.2 turbo diesel 6. That said I would never buy purely from a financial standpoint if nothing else, with 100,000miles on the 4R there will still be someone willing to buy it, and I can put that towards the next Toyota truck.
