What did that mounting kit cost you? I looked around for one that would fit the optima with side battery posts but everything was really expensive.

Using a deep cycle battery will destroy your alternator.

Those batteries require a short long charge... alternators put out a fast charge. I know this because I'm my shops marine electronic expert... and I warn every customer who wants a deep cycle battery of this. Most marine companies won't warranty an alternator if a deep cycle battery is installed and connected to the existing system. And yes, mechanics can tell when an alternator has tried to charge a deep cycle battery.

Now don't get me wrong, they get the job done just as good and will last for an incredible amount of time especially if you get one with a high enough amp-hour rating. But do not try and charge them from an alternator because it will destroy your alternator! If you install it you need to isolate it from your existing battery and only run use it when the car is off and place a trickle charger on it at night.

I like how your sub is, was it expensive to get it custom like that?

Thanks. Actually, it was very cheap since I did the work. All it took was removing the stock sub enclosure, cutting a ring out of MDF, glue, screws, and mounting it back up again. Not hard at all.

I'm still looking for some nice trim to wrap around the edge of the stock grill I had to cut out.

Realized I could use the trim ring that came for the front of the Fosgate sub....fit perfectly...

Would you happen to have your stock HU for sale? I have a 2004 with a broken CD player and would like to replace it -- I am content with the sound, since I'm usually on the phone anyway!

I do still have the stock JBL 6 disk HU in perfect condition. Interested?

I PM'd you last week, but I'm not sure you received it? I am interested. Just need to know your price and perhaps get a picture of it so I can make sure it is the same unit. thanks!
