2011 Rear Speakers NOT WORKING *SOLVED*

My apologies if this thread seems redundant but I thought it worthy to start this thread in case some are still struggling with No Sound from the rear or hatch speakers in their 5th gen Toyota 4Runner.

Replace those cheap Toyota stock speakers (if you can call them that)
*you can test them with a 9v battery*

Because they are wired in series if one blows on either side (that side will not work) MY REAR DOOR SPEAKERS AND HATCH SPEAKERS were ALL blown out by the previous owner.

If your rear door speakers work just jumper the hatch speakers at the connector on the speaker wiring harness to bypass the hatch.

I replaced the rear door speakers with Kicker 47KSC6504
KS Series 6-1/2" 2-way car speakers from Crutchfield.

(Crutchfield says they won't work but they mounted up perfectly with the enclosed Kicker speaker adapters and Metra 72-8104 Speaker Wiring Harnesses)

For the hatch speakers I went with:
Kenwood KFC-1396PS
Performance Series 5-1/4" 2-way car speakers
Kenwood KFC-1396PS Performance Series 5-1/4" 2-way car speakers at Crutchfield

Now: All 8-speakers work together.
Party Mode disables the Rear Door speakers and sends more power to the rear hatch speakers.

*Note: You'll want to sound deaden the hatch panel or any decent speakers will vibrate and rattle.

I am running a BV800ACP head unit w. a built-in internal amp (20 watts RMS/80 peak x 4 channels. This powers 6-8 speakers in this setup nicely.

Attached is a picture showing how to bypass the hatch speakers if you only want the rear doors working out of series.

Great write up! Thank you for confirming that the 6.5 Kickers will fit the rear doors. I just bought two sets of 5.25 speakers for the rear doors and the hatch. Haven’t installed the hatch, I’m returning to Crutchfield. Now that I know the kickers will fit, I’m probably returning those for the kickers. I want 6.5 speakers, the 5.25’s are just too puny in my opinion. Wish the Kickers could fit the hatch. Trail Grid Pro sells a full speaker replacement kit that’s all Kicker. They partnered with them. The rear doors and the hatch are the exact ones they use that you referenced. They must have some custom adapter. You can only buy their full kit for like $588
