Hey All. Been lurking around here for a few months reading everything I can about these wonderful machines. I was originally in the market for a Heep Grand Cherokee. Honestly never thought I'd own a toyota. Someone mentioned to me about the 4runner went to the dealership and fell in love. Monday I purchased a 2014 Trail in Nautical Blue. Only have one picture of her for now. It's been raining since I bought her. Hoping that's good luck. I can't wait to continue learning from this site. This community seem like a great thing to be apart of. I also hope to get to meet some of you at various events and meet ups. I am from the Philadelphia area.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I will get some better pictured up as soon as I can.

On a side note: My trail came with the dunlop tires, seems like a lot of people swap tires right away. Are they truly that bad?

ha funny

it's amusing how many people trade in Subaru's for 4runners. I had a WRX, then Legacy GT, before my 4runner.

I did catch myself eye's the new STi at the dealer down the street the other day....
 
Off reading is something I would like to do. 1st test will be last weekend of August so I can't wait.

I do not ride bikes well not the vroom vroom kind.

New subaru wrx look like an evo and Volvo child. Not a fan. But it is crazy how many people I have seen on here ditching the wrx for a 4runner. My wife has a legacy not a gt tho.

I noticed that trend myself (tire swap) and after a bit of research, I've found that the Dunlop Grandtrek AT2.0 are just not suited well for a vehicle designed to go off-road IF you plan to do that (off-roading) more than you would drive on the highway. Treadlife for the Grandtrek AT2.0 is rated at UTGQ300 BB, where as other tires that are more functional for off-road driving, while maintaining reasonable on-highway driving are rated at UTGQ500 or better (meaning longer tread life).

I'm still researching which tires I will go to, after completing a 3-1/2 week road-trip in October, but am leaning towards Nitto Terra Grapplers (I've had great luck with those on other vehicles).

Just thinking the same thing. I traded my 2012 WRX for the 4runner. Got mine in Nautical Blue, TEP. Had to get the hood scoop, so I would not miss my WRX.

I had the grandtrek at2 before and pavement use was great until you got to the last 1/4 tread depth. then it was crap. those oem lasted 2 yrs before I traded them off.

just take the UTGQ with a grain of salt

Notice that the treadwear grade is a ratio and not a mileage. This is because multiple factors determine treadwear rates and most of them are a function of driving conditions and operating environment, and not the tire itself. As a result, actual tire wear will vary considerably within the same tire line. However, two tires with exactly the same compound should have a treadwear rating that varies in accordance with tread depth.

The assigning of UTQG grades is done solely by the tire manufacturer. In many cases, this has resulted in the UTQG grading system to be more of a marketing tool than was originally intended.

It is legal and permissible for a tire manufacturer to give a particular tire line a lower treadwear grade. For example, if the highest treadwear grade in a manufacturer's lineup is 600, then a tire line with a lower treadwear test result might receive a grade of 400, instead of the 480 it could possibly receive.

Nicely done! A nautical blue trail will be my next 4R, so I've been watching for them at local dealers. I'm assuming you probably bought within my search area being that you're in MONTCO. Did you order it or buy it off the lot? Does it have KDSS? Base or Premium? Sorry for all the questions, but I just talked to the sales guy I bought my last 4R from about one of these on Monday.

Also, the grandtreks are definitely lesser tires, but I wouldn't throw them away immediately. They should be good for 25K miles or so before you really start to hate them. They came from the factory on my '03. I switched to Bridgestone REVOs and am on my second set..great tire.

No worries. I want to be as helpful as I can be just as this site seems to be to everyone. I bought it in easton at willham toyota. Steve B was my saleman. Base trail without kdss with entune and navi. Bought it off the lot. Conicelli toyota in conshohocken has a blue trail but it's base no kdss. If there is anything else please let me know.

I actually really like that picture as it makes the Nautical Blue look flat instead of metallic. Kinda reminds me of a darker Arles Blue found on the Defender 90s.

Congrats on your new truck!!
