outdoor temperature sensor?

Just bought 2007 Limited V8/AWD, and so far its awesome. Before this I only bought Amercan trucks. My last was a Dodge that had constant problems and lousy dealer service. Two questions however. Are all V8 T4r's AWD? and Where can I find the outdoor temperature sensor? It seems that the temperature reading is always way higher than the actual outdoor temperature. Thanks in advance!

4th gen V8's were available w/ 2WD or full time 4WD.

The outside air temp sensor is mounted on the cross member behind the grill. You will see it when you open the hood. If it is reading high that is somewhat normal for mine when the truck sits while warm or if the sun is shining on the front. While driving, with the air moving across the sensor, it reads normally.

Im pretty sure 4th gen V8s are full time 4wd only. My temp display is usually within a few degrees after driving for a few minutes.

Nope -- they were also available as 2WD.

No, they were availble in the US as 2wd as well. In Canada only the full time 4wd were available as far as I know. There were not any part time 4wd V8s made.

Are you all sure? I have never heard of the V8 coming in 2wd. Only the V6 was.

I'm sure. The V8 and V6 were available in 4WD and RWD. Perhaps you are confusing the fact that the V6 4WD was multi-mode (had a 2WD mode) while the V8 4WD was full-time 4WD. You can confirm this by going to Edmunds, select used cars, and navigate to 2003 Toyota 4Runner.

While shopping for my wifes 4runner, I looked at a 2003 v8 that was 2wd......I was confused at that point, as I thought the v8s were all full time 4wd.

We wound up buying a 2005 Limited v8 that is 2wd. Very nice truck, but I still love my 4wd.

Thanks to your description I see mine now. Unfortunately it has no wire leading to it. Could you take a picture or tell me where your cable leads so I can try and get it fixed?
