Outside rear view mirrors

I just purchased a 2008 Limited to replace a totaled 2007 Limited. My 2008 does not have direction signals in the outside rear view mirrors as did the 2007. Does anyone know if the wiring harness is already in the door for the mirrors with signals and it is just a matter of replacing the mirror itself?

I have an 07 Limited and don't have the signals you're talking about, nor have I seen them. Can you elaborate? or include a pic

I wish I could supply a picture, but the vehicle was totaled. Imbedded in the outside edge of each rear view mirror were LED's in the shape of an arrow that would flash red when the turn signals were on. My 2007 looked very much like the picture of yours, hood scoop and all. Was the hood scoop an option? My 2008 doesn't have one, nor have any of the Limiteds that I looked at.

I've never seen the signals, but wish I had them too. As far as the hood scoop. It is only on the sport edition and can not be ordered or gotten on any other model. I bought mine from a wrecked Runner that was hit on the side and had it painted and installed.

Have you seen outside mirrors with turn signals built in?

For 4Runners, they're not stock. They would be aftermarket.

From what I understand, they're not a difficult thing to add-on. Just have to run the wire into a wire for the turn signals.

Why would you need them? Don't you know when you turn them on, and isn't the noise you hear or the green flashing light on your dash that lets you know they are on enough?

It amazes me how people that drive luxury cars become helpless without technology. Heaven help them if they ever get in a car that has 3 pedals and a shifter that moves left and right and not just up and down.

Who pissed in your Cheerios this morning??

They're for on-road safety... They're more visible from the immediate left and right than the front and rear turn signals.
