Outside temperature reading

I tried this a long while back when I wanted to mess with the outside temp sensor to check if it really worked. My truck was parked in my garage and ambient temp was about 70 according to first reading. I popped the hood, located the sensor (in front of radiator attached to support beam - to left of horns while facing truck). I took a can of compressed air, turned it upside down and gave it a quick blast. I turned the key to the ON position and the temp gauge read something like 62.
Mine has been very accurate and we have had truly sweltering heat in Atlanta. This afternoon I took a picture while in early afternoon rush hour downtown and it was showing 106 F. As I am now watching the news they just said locations in town hit 105 F today. Tomorrow predictions are 101-103 and also for Saturday. I cant believe it but it is too hot to go to the lake!!!

It will not read accurate until the vehicle is moving. That way the higher tarmac temps does not interfere.

Mine seems to be within a degree of what I see on bank signs. Was 104F a couple weeks ago and it showed 104F. Lowest I've seen on it was -33F and honestly I like 104 better.
Mine was really slow to change the other day -- it was about 100 degrees, but it started in the low 90's and slowly got up to 98 before I got home. Never saw it change so slowly before. Will check it out this afternoon when we head out on our Saturday evening activities.
