Over $800 for set of 4 Revos??

I went to my local tire store and got a price for 4 Revos. They were about $830 including installation. Does this even sound right? I didn't plan on spending this much on tires. If this is right I will definately not be getting tires this year as this is a bit much for me. Any thoughts? I check Tirerrack.com and they were cheaper but by the time I have them mounted it comes to about the same price.

REVO WENT UP SINCE LAST SUMMER. I GOT MY FOR $580 SHIP ON LINE MINUS A $75 MAIL IN REBATE = $505 AFTER REBATE +$60 FOR MOUNT AND BALANCE AT LOCAL TIRE SHOP.

My dealer service dept. is running a buy 3 get one free tire special. It might be worth it to give your local dealer service center a call. Not that I trust them. But, it will be easier to yell at them if something goes wrong. I don't know if they carry revo's either.

I guess you can say that. However, in Europe tyres are like 800 pounds or 800 euros. I'm exagerating on price here.

America's economy is strong in that we consume the world over. Are prices aren't like everyone elses, they're for the most part cheaper.

Driving is a privilege and maintenance can be a bitch, what can you do about it

Sounds about right. Prices jumped in Dec.

As for getting them mounted and balanced for $60, that's really cheap. The average cost is $80+ in the NYC area.

Is it possible that they may go down in Summer? Are these considered a "winter" type tire? I think I am going to try and get at least one season out of them. But I cannot stand them. A $35K truck and $100 tires on them, I guess I just don't get it...

I recall the Revo's on Tirerack used to have an H Speed rating. They now offer the S-rated tire. This may represent the jump in price.

REVOs have been S rated. Also H is a higher rating - up to 130 mph, S is up to 112 mph.

I really doubt they'll be coming down in price any time soon. They're an All Terrain, all season tire.

The speed rating isn't really an issue for us. I know Koz and I have argued this point before but I still think he's wrong .

We have disagreed on the difference between the P and LT rating for the REVOs but I don't recall speed ratings. An S rated tire on the 4Runner is a blessing. If it were an H rated tire, no big tire shop would put a S rated tire on. Also you pay for the higher rating in money and tire longevity. Many people not knowingly buy a vehicle with exotic tires and take a shit fit when they have to replace them. Also these ratings are based on maintaining the top rated speed for a sustained period. You can exceed the speed rating for a short blast without any problems, depending on the condition of the tires.

Ok, one more question. When I they priced the tires for me the priced me for the 265/65-17 but I see that most are putting on 265/70-17. What is the benefit of the larger tire?

1st 70 series fill up the wheel well better!

2th you get a 1/2 inch lift with the 70 series!

3th you get to pay a little more for gas!:awais:

4th its look a lot better with bigger tires!

I am assuming that I can use the 70's with no adjustments to the vehicle itself? Like a lift or anything. But then I will have to buy a 5th tire for the spare, hmmmm. More money there... but I would like a little bit more height if possible.

Best price I found around here was Tire Kingdom - $765 all-inclusive, with lifetime balances, rotations, etc.

I'm still not convinced it's the right tire for me though, especially after the guy I spoke to mentioned several tires he felt were better (and he apparently previously worked for Bridgestone).

I got mine from a Firestone dealer. I had them price match just the tires last year. I've been very happy with them so far. They're great in the snow, rain and dry.
