Overdrive issue

I've got a 2000 SR5 TR4 4x4 auto tranny with 211,000 miles. I'm having some issues with my overdrive. It seems like it's trying to shift into OD but just want make the trip. After I drive it for a while it starts shifting normal again. The first 3 gears shift just fine, even when it's cold........except when it's really cold and it winds out like all toyotas do. It seems like it's gotten worse over the last couple weeks and even does it after the truck has been setting for a couple hours. I called a local transmission shop and the guy said it could be a heat sensor that tells the tranny it's warmed up enough to shift into OD. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem, maybe save me some time and money.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Figured it out today. I took it to a transmission shop and they pulled codes showing I have 2 bad shifter solenoids. He ordered them today so next week he's changing the fluid and replacing the bad solenoids. Today it wouldn't go into OD even after it warmed up, hopefully this will take care of it.

I knew that was way too easy. The shop called me today and said the solenoids did not fix my OD. So now I'm looking at rebuilding or finding another tranny. Does anyone know what year model will work with my 2000 T4R, 4x4? I thought maybe I should look around and see if I can find a good used one at a salvage yard.

I pad around $700+ for all 3 OEM solenoids when my 2 out of the 3 went bad. labor was free my brother did it, he said it was literally plug and play not hard at all. I had a similar issue.
