Overdrive

Do you drive with your OD on or off? Or depending. Give an example if you don't mind.

I can't decide still what I like better. Definitely feels like it drives better on the highway with it on.

I drive with it on, the only time it makes any sense to have it off is if you're towing, or possibly if driving aggresively so it doesn't have to downshift as far to get into the lower gears for power.

with gas price now i drive it with o/d on, but when it was cheap i drove with ect on and o/d off, you can feel the power right away on freeways

Just think of overdrive as your last (highest) gear - like 5th gear for a manual tranny. If you're on the freeway/highway, definitely use it. It'll give you better mpgs and less wear and tear on the drivetrain. If you live in the mountains like me, I have it off (dash light on) most of the time because I'm not traveling fast enough to justify the tranny using OD (4th gear). It just makes it shift twice as much when it doesn't need to on hills and curvy roads going <40 mph. Use it when towing so you don't lag your engine and put unnecessary stress on the tranny.
