Overlanding Vlog Series in our 4Runner

Jason, just wanted to say that I found your videos on Youtube a while back and never knew you were here on the forum too! Great to see you here and wanted to say great job on the videos! I love watching them. Inspiring me to get a 4runner soon. Thank you for doing them.
 
What's up everyone!

Guess what?

VLOG 27 is OUT!

This was our trip from Branson to Moab (2 days).

The drive across Colorado was simply incredible!

At the end of this vlog, we're landed in MOAB, seriously such a magical place!

And since at the end of this one we're in Moab - you know what that means!! VLOG 28 (next week!) will have tons and TONS of trail time!

The edit will be interesting for sure! I have soooo much footage to go through!

It'll be hard for it not to be a 15 minute episode! haha

I bet a lot of us wouldn't mind a 15 minute episode!
 
Great series Jason, keep it up.

It's nice to see the way you're able to entertain the kids. Mine are about the same age as yours and I'm nervous to take them on long trips as they can be tough to entertain, especially off the grid.

And yes, mine just turned 13 and we got him an iPhone for his birthday as well.

Well I normally do 89 in Florida. But the further west I got, the less we saw that option at the gas stations! When I originally bought the truck in January 2016, I did quite a bit of research on which grade to use (sure, the manual says 87), and a lot of users on this forum seemed to agree that 89 was the best option. I've always subscribed to using a little better gas, not sure if there is actually any tangible credence to it though!

What do you use? Anyone else have any feedback on it?

Haha. Well it's always a challenge! We try to keep them entertained with "wholesome" things, but it doesn't always work! When we're someplace fun, we usually have an "electronics ban" and I tell them to go explore and look and see things they don't normally get to see.

I'm far from a great parent, but I try and encourage them to appreciate what's around them!

They're also a little used to going on the adventures now! lol

I'll admit, though, they're more fun for me than for them! haha

VLOG 28 is OUT!

This was our first real day in Moab, where we hit Fins n Things. We did the first half with our Turtleback trailer - it was stressful but the trailer did just fine.

The reasoning for doing it with the trailer was two-fold.

1.) I was new there and didn't realize at the time I could just find a campsite and leave it there. haha

2.) I did want to test the trailer out a little on some more technical trails to see what I'd be up against if I were on a remote overland trip with it and encountered obstacles.

I learned a bit about the area by lunch time and had some realizations and dropped it off for the rest of the afternoon. haha

I use just one level above 87, so 89 if they have it.
 
Just watched your ep28. Now I have 27 other things to do tonight haha.

Very cool stuff, I look forward to catching up to that ep now.
 
Of topic question if you don't mind.
How are the slee off road sliders handling on your trips? Would you buy them again? I like how they look but I am wondering how they are performing for you?
