I'm currently trying to clean up all of the little minor annoyances I have with my ride And the next thing on my list is the oil drain plug... or lack thereof. The lady who had the truck before me had her oil changed at one of the quick lubes and one of those guerillas ended up stripping the pan. to get it back on the road she had them install a expansion plug and it is still on there to this day.
I've only had to change the oil twice since I bought it and the wing nut design seems to be solid but it is beginning to leak a couple of drops every few days. I'm a little OCD about some things and leaking oil is one of them. I know the current drain plug size is m12-1.25 .. do you think I'd be OK jumping to a self tapping m14 - 1.50? its quite a bit bigger but I want to make sure I get a good thread and seal. Does anyone have any experience or advise on this?
