oxygen sensor?

Hey guys let me introduce myself. 1st, post. I live in Florida and own a 2000 limited 4runner. I had to replace the oxygen sensor in my truck. It is the one in front of the cat. I got the part the other day and installed it but the harness was different. Comes to find out I have a california emissions truck which actually has a different oxygen sensor and its called an air/fuel sensor. I tried to return it to NAPA but since I tightned the bolts down on it the wont return it.

Can I splice the wires from the new o2 sensor to the harness from my used sensor or will that cause problems? Or does anyone else have any ideas. Thanks for the help guys/girls.

i know that for my maxima you are supposed to splice the wires when you pick up an 02 sensor from an aftermarket store such as napa/autozone. yours might not work because of the different emission standards might require different hookups, but then, what do you have to lose?

if nothing else, you could always sell the 02 sensor on ebay.
