Guys, 4runner, 2004, V8, sport, got a code P0031, o2 sensor, bank 1 sensor 1, plan to replace it myself, does anyone have the diagram of the sensors location? I did a replacement awhile back for my lexus gs300 2001, not sure if the location of the 4runner and lexus are the same. Any help would be appreciated.

2004 4 runner V8 replacing oxygen sensor
I replaced my sensor 1 bank 1 oxygen sensor located on driver side pre-catalyst. Simply goe thru wheel hub panel by removing rubber shield which gives you easy access to sensor. Remove connector and test with Ohmmeter (should read about 16 ohms between terminals 1 and 2-the top 2 terminals with 2 black wires). If bad then remove sensor by using a 22mm wrench (may be hard to remove). Check new sensor for app. 16 ohms with Ohmmeter. Coat new sensor threads with anti seize lube and rethread by hand at first and tighten with wrench. Reattach connector. You are done.
Maybe a 2 hour job. BTW use a denso sensor to be safe. I bought one for $135 at KOI in Indiana.
You can erase codes in memory by removing EFI and EFSC (right next to each other) fuses for 60 seconds in engine fuse box or just erase with scanner.
Drive the car and be sure CEL doesnt return. Done!

FYI Denso O2 sensors on Amazon for ~$80 a piece.
Stick with the OEM brand and not some NAPA rip off.

Agreed on using the Denso part. I also saw as cheap as $80 at Advance Auto. But it would be 3 days to get part. KOI usually gets the same day.

How many O2 senors are on the V8? Four?
I found these on Amazon, but wanted to check. I am assuming it would be two downstream and two upstream sensors.

AFRs in the front, O2 in the rear on most Toyota's these days... can't remember if Federal vehicles used 4 O2s or not; that always seems to be a weird grey area.

Did you reset the codes. I just dealt with the p0031 and replaced it with this O2 sensor. Amazon Link
I reset the codes and it never came back. I got free loaner O2 sockets tools from Autozone and the whole job took 15 mins.
Yes I reset the codes. I have tried numerous times and every time the p0032 comes back instantly.

Hey guys, so I'm getting O2 sensor codes P0141 and P0135 (heater circuit). They are both brand new Denso sensors, originally replaced because the other two were bad. Anyway, I had no issue from the new ones until I had my headers redone. Redone as in fixed a couple of small leaks and powder coated. After I installed them, I started getting the codes. I pulled them out and whiped them off, sprayed the connectors with electrical connector cleaning agent. Still getting the codes. Someone mentioned that I am suppose to have four sensors. I notice an additional spot for a third sensor on the y pipe but it has a plate bolted over the hole. Is there suppose to be another? Any advice? I've been dealing with this for three weeks now.
