P0171....Problem solved!!!

So I finely broke down and got a new MAF sensor, no more codes

For all you guys out there that have been throwing this code I too have been having a tuff time discovery my problem.
Basically I've owned my 99 5-speed for almost a year now and about 4 months ago I started having hesitation going from 2nd -3rd (5-speed y'all ). Would also throw the infamous p0171 code while going up hills on top of that I totally lacked power when traveling up steep grades. I tried cleaning MAF and would work for a short while then bam p0171.... Dam!!!
After replacing fuel filter, then doing another tune-up in just 6 months and replacing the Pvc valve and some hoses I thought were to blame the problem still persisted.

Long story short, I bought a new MAF from camelback ( awesome people and about 50 bucks cheaper then my local stealership and free shipping) problem solved.
Truck seems to have a more smooth throttle response and no hesitation while in third and most importantly NO F...Ing P0171 code!!

Now I know this might not be the case for everyone, but for me it was totally worth the money. Next up is both the 02 sensors.

Thanks for all the threads that have been posted before that of which I would not have been able to solve my problem by myself.

You mean to tell me I could have saved some money :bash:

Damn, no I did not but now wish I did... Thanks a lot

Serious though, now I'm wondering myself, I just might throw the old one in and compare the two if I find some time.

Sorry, I missed your thread. (Was there one?) I would have suggested it.

You don't need to install it completely--just plug it into the connector.

The other things you fixed weren't a total waste--anything on a 14-year old truck won't get worse by going new.

No previous thread, I was just working off of the search function however I never came across the test... Still new to this forum stuff!

I am however very appreciative of the time everyone takes to offer suggestions.
I'm in the same mind set about replacing parts, I plan on keeping my runner till it dies and hope to keep it going as long as possible by replacing what needs to be replaced, and even those things that might not be needed

With that being said I know the purchase was justified, due to the way she drives now.

For sure. I'm just interested to know if the test is valid, or would have been valid, in your case. So if you do get around to it, please let me know or at least post it up. Thanks.
