I second injectors

P0301 Diagnostic Theory for Shops and Technicians
When the code P0300 is set in the Powertrain Computer, it means that the Misfire Monitor has detected more than a 2 percent variance in RPM between the firing of any two (or more) cylinders in the firing order. The Misfire Monitor constantly checks the rotational speed of the Crankshaft by counting the pulses of the Crankshaft Sensor. The Monitor wants to see a smooth increase or decrease in engine RPM.

If there are jerky and sudden changes in the speed output of the Crankshaft Sensor, the Misfire Monitor begins to count the RPM increase (or lack thereof) contributed by each cylinder. If it varies beyond 2 percent, the Monitor will set a P0300 code and illuminate the Check Engine Light. If there is more than a 10 percent variance, the Check Engine Light will blink or pulse in a steady manner to indicate that a harmful Catalytic Converter misfire is occurring.

Injectors can defiantly do these codes, more likely though (and cheaper to try first too) is Plugs and Wires! pull them all out (individually) and take a look at the insulation condition of the cable!

I just fixed this issue this fall! good luck!

Thank you for the information. I'll look at the injectors also. All codes point to Cylinder 3&4 so it should be easy to hunt down.

178.00 per fuel injector. Really? Now x that by 6 and the O ring kit from Fel-Pro.

My 4Runner is about to be in the dog house....

If u can wait till say Tuesday ill chk the steelership
And my cost

If not u can get rebuilt ones half that

I know they are pricey, but maybe Camelback is around $150.

Try ohming each one out first, then if you find a dead one, order a new one and the o-rings. Or pull each injector connector with it running (I'd start at cyl 3).

Don't worry about the other five IMHO, unless you have a hefty wallet.

FYI

I'm running oem rebuilt denso off eBay
120 all 6
Shipped
Now have 40ish k on them

Chk out

Shopinjectors.com

Running a set from them in the wife's 300zx
Paid 160 shipped all 6

Also I can dig up I believe I still have a few
From pull apart that ohm out good

Ill send them to ya

I too am having the same issue. Out of the blue my 97 started misfiring, changed out the plugs, no difference, just replace all 3 coil packs a little better but still misfiring P300 code. I'm looking for that magic answer as well.

P0300 Code this morning while driving

Got this code while driving today but am unsure why

Background info
-Had P0304 Code a couple weeks ago so I changed all of the spark plugs, wires, and one of the ignition coil packs and that did the trick
-The car isn't stumbling in the slightest and the exhaust smells fine
-There is a little bit more trouble starting up the car but nothing extreme. Takes maybe one or two more seconds to turn over.

Does anyone know what could be the issue?

With 5vzfe 's stick with denso or ngk plugs and wires. What brand plugs and wires?

Anyone here ever find some answers? Curious to hear the oddball resolutions as someone dealing with a vicious cycle #4 intermittent misfire with good swaps on coils, wires, plugs, and injectors and good compression..just did a full head gasket and timing water pump job, with a full valve job on the heads. Thinking electrical, vacuum (although I'm getting periods of rich with the miss not lean), or maybe somehow an issue with the valve job or HG...but passes compression so..

Anyone end up with ECU or circuit control issues with their ignition or injectors?

I have a 2000 4Runner V6 4x4 with 233k miles.

I had the P0300, P0303 & P0304 codes. I started her in the morning cold and she was shaking like a California earthquake. I suspected that it wasn't the injectors based on what others here said.

I replaced the plugs and wires OEM. I also replaced the 3 coils aftermarket - Walker 3-pack from O'Reilly's.

The misfires and associated shaking were gone and she runs perfectly. The CEL went off in about 15 mins.

Sharing my experience in the event it may help others.
